Video from Space
In the time that it takes footballers to play one match, an astronaut in the International Space Station can pass from daytime to night time and back again, circling the planet earth completely. With each orbit, the station moves around 2,200 km to the west. A time-lapse video taken by the European Space Agency astronaut Alexander Gerst shows the view from space in under one minute. He set the camera to take an image every few seconds and then played the images back quickly to create the time-lapse effect.
Gerst worked as geophysicist and volcanologist before the ESA chose him as an astronaut in 2009.

Philippines oil spill
Volunteers and coastguard personnel tried to clean up a devastating oil spill from the sunken tanker MT Princess Empress that has washed up on the shores of the Philippines’ Mindoro Island and stained most of its beaches. People collect the oil, wipe the rocks and gather the debris along the shore. After they clean an area, more oil comes back with the tide.
The tanker is thought to be lying at about 366 meters below sea level, off Oriental Mindoro province.
It was carrying about 800,000 liters of industrial fuel when it suffered engine trouble on 28 February in rough seas.
Marine scientists said that about 36,000 hectares of coral reefs, mangroves, and sea grass were potentially in danger.

Many people think that Madagascar is a beautiful island with green forests and many different animals. That is the past. Now, Madagascar has many problems.
People in southern Madagascar cut down almost all of the trees. The trees stop strong winds. Now, people cannot put seeds in the ground. Winds blow the seeds away.
Another problem is no rain falls for many years. It happens because of climate change.
More than a billion people need help. Scientists say that the situation will be even worse. There will be famine. Famine is the situation when very many people have nothing to eat. Madagascar can be the first country where famine happens because of animals.

Iran school attacks
Hundreds of girls in schools across Iran have fallen ill in suspected poisoning attacks. The attacks occurred in more than 100 schools across the country, and more than 100,000 girls have fallen ill since November with symptoms associated with poison attacks.
Many people believe that the attacks are an extremist response to the protests led by women and girls.
The country has been convulsed by unrest since the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody in September, and the suspected poisonings have sparked even more protests. In Iran, girls’ education is an accepted and ordinary part of life. The country’s supreme leader said that if deliberate poisoning was proved, then the culprits should be sentenced to death for committing an unforgivable crime.
