The hare and the tortoise
An ancient Greek tale by the mythologist Aesop, (620 BC) who founded the PARABLE (allegory). All his fables have a teaching message.
John

Ptolemaida 4th Primary, ST1 class

Once upon a time, there was a hare who boasted that he ran faster than any animal in the forest.
One spring morning, the proud hare had come out of his nest and was eating fresh grass. As he was eating, he saw a little further away a turtle slowly passing by. Kiriakos

Her walking looked funny that the tortoise started to laugh at her because she was slower that a snail.
The tortoise stopped and said to the hare :
Let's see who is faster? Let's run in a race. That's it! Giannis

The hare fell down and began to laugh but seeing the turtle remained serious, he understood that he did not tell him as a joke, he accepted the challenge. The fox being suitable ,defined the point where they would start the route and where they would end. Mania

Without wasting time , the turtle started walking, slowly of course but persistently and non-stop, and had already covered the first few centimeters of the route. Elizabeth
The hare seeing the pace of the tortoise, feeling sleepy since it was very early in the morning. He thought to sleep a little and when he woke up he would run as fast as he can and would definitely finish first.Faye
So the turtle continued to walk and walk persistently without giving up, and covering more and more of the route. But the hare went to sleep! Athina

eat my dust

A long time passed like this and at some point the hare woke up. "Time for a little run, to get the winner's prize" he thought arrogantly and set off. Christine
But he was very surprised because he could not find the turtle anywhere. For a moment he thought he'd give up on the running race since he'd lost it anyway. Anastasis
But do you know when the hare went crazy?
When he reached the finish point he saw the turtle waiting for him chewing a leaf and having a triumphant expression on her face. Jim

And by that the tortoise won the rabbit in the race,of course not because it runs faster than them, but why keep faith to its purpose and didn’t show like the rabbit. Babis
The meaning of the myth is that the one that aims, do not give up and do not get away either from the one that always wins. The arrogant loses. Maria

The hare believed that without work he could reach the destination of the first, while in reality without commitment and persistence no matter how good, smart or fast you are, you will get nowhere. Thanasis

''The sweetest bread"

19th Primary School of Katerini Greece
Once upon a time there was a king who while he was happy, he suddenly started not liking anything. He had no appetite and was becoming strange and grumpy. Many doctors examined him but the medicines they gave him did not cure him.

One day, a white-haired old man was passing through the palace. He was poor but wise and knowledgeable about medicine. He was told about the king and went to the palace to see him. Then he asked him: "Are you getting tired, my king?", "Of course not," replied the king, "I have been lying down all day."

“Listen, my king, you have nothing serious. You have no appetite because you don't like the bread they give you in the palace! Order them to bring you the sweetest bread in the world. Then you will be cured!'

The king and the salt
-Folk tale from Greece
4th Primary School of Ptolemaida, Greece

A fairy tale that teaches us that some things are more valuable than gold. Love is like salt. Without it life is not tasty. Haris
And literally salt is so important for the health that Roman soldiers were paid in salt at one time. Without salt our body does not function. The ancients knew this very well.Thanasis

As is usual in fairy tales, there is a palace with kings, princes or princesses. Elias
Once upon a time there was a great king who had three sons whom he loved very much. One day he decided to see how much they loved him, too. So, he called each one and he asked them: “How much do you love me?”

I love you as much as I love gold and jewels, said the first son, and the king was very pleased. I love you as much as I love money, said the second son, and again the king was very pleased. I love you as much as I love the salt, said the third son. Maria
The king then got very angry and expelled the third son from the palace.

go away

He wandered in cities and villages,

He did many jobs and managed with his intelligence to become king in another state. (Rafaela)

Years passed, his father was now very old and had almost forgotten his third son. But he always remembered his father and his unjust persecution from the old days, but he held no grudge against him. (Eleni)

So one day they decide to make a festive table and invite royalty from near and far. Among them was his father. The table was very rich. (Despina)
It had all kind of foods the fruits and the sweets but all the foods were unsalted . that's what the third son had agreed with the chef. Antonis

When everyone sat down at the festive table, the king's father took his fork and began to eat.

But with the first forkfuls, he complained that the food had no salt at all and stopped eating. He sat engrossed in front of it, the such rich but tasteless table foods. Marina

The old king, surprised, recognizes his son and understands his mistake.`` I m sorry, my son , I was so unfair to you":… he told him. Then the son hugged his father and they lived well and we better. Alexis

We try not jumping to conclusions for people because at the end our life will be like unsalted food! I hope you like this story and you don’t make the same mistake as the king.Christos

THE END - hope you enjoyed! Elias

Gift of the wind

Latvia
Vangaži Secondary School

A poor old man lived in an old room. Once a very strong wind rose and ripped the roof off the room. The old man was sad and decided to go complain to the wind itself.

He walked all day, and when night came, he went into the forest and saw a small house. He went into the house and asked the owner, “ Do you know where the wind lives?”

“I myself am the wind”, the owner answered .
“ I came to you to complain.”

”The wind tore off the roof of my room and now I don`t know how to live on.”
“What did you come to complain about?”

”Don`t be angry! One wing accidentally caught on. I will give you for this one kerchief.
When you put this kerchief on the table or ground, various food and drinks will appear on it. And you can live without troubles.”

The old man thanked for the gift and went home. And he began to drink and feed all his relatives and friends. The master heard about this and ordered his people to take away the magic kerchief from the old man.
