Living organisms are always making new cells. They make new cells in order to grow and also to replace dead cells. This process is called cell division. Cell division happens all the time.
CELLS, CELLS and more CELLS! Cells are the basic unit of life.

First let's look at the cell structure
All living things are made of up cells, humans have to up 100 trillion cells in our bodies!

100 trillion cells is like 1,000 times the number of stars in the universe!

So what do cells do?
- They provide structure for the body
- Take nutrients from food
- Convert nutrients into energy
- and carry out specialized functions
Cells can also make copies of themselves!
Cells have many parts and they each have a different function. Some of these parts, called organelles, are specialized structures that perform certain tasks within the cell.

CELLS
Lets break it down
Cytoplasm
- a jelly like substance that surrounds the nucleus

Cytoskeleton
- is a long fiber that makes up the cell's framework like, cell shape, cell division and allowing the cells to move.

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER)
- This helps process molecules created by the cell. They also transport these molecules to their specific destinations either inside or outside the cell.

Golgi Apparatus (GA)
- The GA packages the molecules processed by the endoplasmic reticulum to be transported out of the cell.
Nucleus
- is the cell’s command center, sending directions to the cell to grow, mature, divide, or die.

Plasma membrane
- is the outer lining of the cell. It separates the cell from its environment and allows materials to enter and leave the cell.
