Thank you Ms.Hylton for letting me to have the opportunity to write this book.

Hello, my name is Clark and I am a mitochondrion. I convert the chemical energy from food to energy that organelles use to keep the cell going. I hold so much power that without me, a cell could die because there wouldn't be any energy to power the organelles. They call me “the powerhouse of the cell” because without me, there wouldn't be any ATP being produced. It’s like how you need electricity to power your house.
My day usually starts with making ATP in a process called respiration which uses the food you eat and the oxygen you inhale to create ATP, carbon dioxide and water. I create something called adenosine triphosphate, also known as ATP. When these ATP molecules are produced, organelles obtain energy from them. It's just like how you eat food and drink water to obtain energy. I convert the energy from the food into energy that the organelles can be powered with which is why I am so important
Although it may sound like a big job, I get help from my fellow chloroplast friends in eukaryotic plant cells. Chloroplast takes energy from the sun, water and carbon dioxide and converts it into energy using a process called photosynthesis.
