The Pleiad

The Pleiad were a family of sisters who were

god-like. They were very beautiful and they

caught the attention of many gods.

AlyconeAlycone is the star you see right next to this page.
Alycone's name means the"queen who wards off evil."
She fell in love with Poseidon and gave birth to
Hyrieus. Poseidon broke up with Alycone but Alycone
found a new boyfriend, Ceyx and married him.
Poseidon was jealous and hurt Ceyx. Ceyx left Alycone.
Alycone became really sick because she was sad and
she passed away. Poseidon was really sad and decided
to turn Alycone into a beautiful star.

AsteropeAsterope is the star at the top of the picture. Asterope
means lightning, twinkling, stubborn, and sun. She had fallen in
love with Ares and they had a child. The child's name was Oenomaus.
Asterope wasn't sick when she passed away like her sister. She had
died a happy old lady with no regrets and lived with her son happily
ever after.

CalaenoCalaeno was a quiet and shy sister. She hadn't
really wanted to be in the spotlight. However,
like every other sister so far, she fell in love.
She fell in love with a guy named Prometheus and
had two sons named Lycus and Chimaerus. Other
than that, no one really knows how she got turned
into a star or how she had passed away. All we know is,
now she is a beautiful star in our solar system.
