Once upon a time, there was a young child by the name of Tove Jansson. She was born on August 9th, 1914 in Helsinki, Finland. She was born creative because both of her parents were artists. Tove has always loved to create art and write stories.
A critter she called a Moomin was one of her favorite subjects to depict. It was a small, fluffy, round creature with large, expressive eyes. Tove frequently drew the Moomins and made up tales about them.
As she got older, Tove developed a deeper love for her work. She attended an art school where she majored in painting, but she soon discovered that she was far more passionate about storytelling and drawing.
Tove made the choice to write a number of books about the exploits of the Moomins. She co-wrote and drew nine of the wildly popular Moomin novels. The novels have been translated into more than 40 different languages because the adorable and eccentric characters won the hearts of kids all around the world.
