Introduction
For the past few weeks we have been working on
The Happiness Project. This project is about all things
happy. We were paired in groups of two and three
and were given the option to do a childrens book,
cookbook, field guide or a graphic novel. We decided
to create a field guide. We first had to pick 6 topics of
happiness, the ones we choose where personal
growth, genetic factor, lifestyle, desire to help,
relationships, and sadness and depression. Our book is
called “Happy All Around” it is called this because these
were the topics we thought were the most relatable to
happiness.

Having the desire to help is simply having the desire to help, and
what's cool about having the desire to help is that you can find
help anywhere, there are a lot of places that you can donate to.
By helping, it will improve your self esteem, and you will meet
others who have the same desire to help. It will also cure any of
the sympathy that you may feel. My family has provided a lot for
me with my life, and they have a true desire for my siblings and
I to be the best we can be. For example when they signed me up
to be on a dance team and pay for it and support me with it it
brings me a lot of joy. By helping others you can inspire others
to help and share happiness. You can also create a strong
relationship with someone by helping, and build stronger
communities.

Depression is worldwide, you can be any age any ethnicity to have depression.
“People don't choose to be depressed, but they do make a choice about how to
deal with it. You can choose to do nothing, but denying that you have a problem
will only make you feel worse”(Goldsmith). Many teens deal with depression and
some don't know any other way out besides suicide. Depression is one issue that
can become bigger than it already is. It should not be ignored, and should be
treated right away. Depression has came up a few times in my life, with family
members friends and so forth. I am familiar of depression on how it can start and
how it can end. I've had family who had dealt with depression, and I know its not
a good position to be in. If you see your friend or family member going through
depression I encourage that you keep them on the right track into being the
happy person they are.













“Who we are in the present includes who we are in the past” -Fred Rodgers. You
should know that personal growth is involved in your everyday life, either with,
sports, friends, boyfriend or girlfriends, family, and school, but most of all yourself.
There are many ways to be a better person and to grow personally. Research shows
that writing down how you parent or influential caretakers attitude at its most
extreme and noticing how you act, and trying to change and choose the way you
want to be is an example of a way to grow personally. Life is constantly changing,
constantly evolving so we need to learn how to witness this change and to skillfully
move with it.(Puddicombe p.8).
Personal growth relates to happiness because when you are stuck and facing a
difficult obstacle your emotions are negative. In the end you will overcome it and be
happy how the things turned out and you have your friends and family to help you
out. Its always good to know when someone is there for you. A way you can
increase your happiness to identify the obstacles and things that are preventing you
from changing and to set a goal for yourself to change, and to make the effort to
change.

Relationships are a key point in your everyday happiness. Relationships can be found
everywhere; from friends, relatives, family, pets, partners etc. Connections with other
things make people more comfortable, “Relationships create psychological space and
safety so that we can explore and learn”(PBS). Some interesting things about
relationships are that they bring safety, comfort, fun, self worth, and give perspective on
other people. These things truly shape who you are, and who you will become. This can
relate to others because if they change the people they hang out around, they can
change their happiness significantly. If someone is in a more personal relationship,
chances are, you spend a lot of time with them. Your partner can have the greatest
impact on your happiness. If you're not in a happy relationship, get out of it.

Lifestyle is a key point to being happy. You should know that life style can
be crucial to your everyday happiness. Much research has been done on
lifestyle and how it relates to happiness. Life style can also affect your
relationships, “A new study by the University of Chicago found that good
health and agreeability on the part of husbands are keys to preventing
relationship issues in older couples. The study focused on couples who had
been together for decades.” (Iveniuk). This topic relates to happiness
because the way you go around life is key to your success in happiness. If
you make poor lifestyle choices, (drugs, negative people, etc), then you
may not be as well off as you would be without doing those things. Your
lifestyle affects your well being because you choose the way you look at
things. Your partners’ lifestyle can also have an affect on you.
