Symptoms are-

Muscle pain, walking on toes, stiffness, difficulty rising, learning disabilities, frequent falls, and an arched back. Treatment consists of medicine, surgery, therapy, and breathing aids. The life span is often shortened.

1 in every 3,500 male births is diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. A wheel chair may be used to aid in mobility.

This usually develops after inheriting a recessive faulty gene from one or both parents. It is a sex-linked gene on the X chromosome. This is if a female who has the genotype X^(D) X^(d) has a child with a male who has the genotype X^(D)Y. Muscular dystrophy has a 50 percent chance of passing on.
