On a far-off island, there lived a very old and wise turtle.

His name was Terry.

Terry the turtle had seen it all.

When Terry was a hatchling, his beach was large with soft, white sand.

His reef was healthy and full of his sea creature friends.

Terry was very happy until he looked out and noticed that something had changed.

His beach was smaller and littered with trash.

He swam back down to his reef to notice it was duller, and some of his friends had left.

Over time, Terry's reef continued to die.

His beach continued to shrink.

Terry wondered what was happening.

All of a sudden, Frank the fish swam by and said, "Climate change is affecting our home!"

"What's climate change?" asked Terry.

"Well," said Frank, "Climate change is when the temperature of our planet increases over a long period of time."

"What's causing this?" said Terry.

"Humans burn different materials called fossil fuels. When they burn, they let out gasses that make our planet warmer," said Frank.

"How is it affecting our beach?" said Terry.
