Liesel is completely confused on what to do today. She is
walking around the house doing the same pattern over and
over again. She knows that Ruth is out with family and both of
her parents are working and don't need help. She realizes that
her mother bought her a couple of big empty books to draw or
write anything she wanted. So she started to write her life story
just for the sake of doing something. She realizes that this more
than just a little activity to waste time. It becomes a big deal
when she realizes all her ideas, relationships, and life in
general when she goes into detail about her family, friends,
Max, and her connection with books.

She starts to write about the parade that will eventually future
and of what she expects from the parade the comes through
the main part of her town, Molching. She starts to think of the
parade in her head. Imagining about marching bands making
an enthusiastic and uplifting song, people dancing, and the
part where she will ignore, which is the part where the people
bring in the Fuhrer. Liesel is so excited because like no
parades have occurred in her city in a long time and she likes
the craziness of the lights, dancing, and different music. It's
like a slice of another country that does interesting and
outrageous things. It was a little vacation from the stressed
world that she lives in.

Liesel finishes her expectation of the parade and begins to get
ready for the real thing. She takes a while but eventually is
ready. Hans and Rosa finish their work and both begin to get
ready for the parade. After a little while they are ready and all
walk to the parade. They arrive just before the parade starts to
come down the main road. Liesel does expect everything that
she was thinking about. She obviously rejects the Fuhrer, but
has to follow everything else to not look suspicious. But there
was a part of the parade that she would never of thought
about. She sees a group of Jews walking in the street in pain,
organized just like cattle. Liesel sees a Jew that looks
familiar. But she can't quite figure it out.

Liesel starts to follow the section where the mysterious man is.
She pushes people aside and shouts into the crowd. Then while
the mysterious man gazed around into the crowd and Liesel got
onto a little hill. When the two had eye contact they froze in
shock. It was Max. She followed the parade all the way down to
the corner where the parade would loop around to get around the
whole city. But the group of Jews take a different route and went
off road into the forest. She stealthy followed the group and it
ended up at an outpost looking place. But she saw Jews being
lined up and working in pain, being treated horribly. She closed
her mouth to not scream, she was horrified by this site. She
quietly slipped away and went back to her parents. For when the
sky turns black, she will be at that outpost, prepared to do
something crazy.

Liesel and her family went home and she got ready for bed. Her
parents said goodnight and all the lights were out, except in
Liesel's room. She put on some dark clothes that she wouldn't
mind getting dirty, and found an old hat that fit her nicely but also
camouflaged her in the darkness. She brought a little bag the
would hold a lighter but also harness a shovel to her side or back.
Before she left, Liesel wrote in her book about what happened at
the parade. She expressed it as something you have never seen
before. She also wrote about what she was planning to do that
night. She was going to rescue Max at any cost. Though she was
risking her life in a dangerous rescue mission, she had to try
because Max is her friend and if she didn't do anything she would
be living in regret for not doing something about it. She knew the
consequences, but she had the guts to do it, and save her best
friend, besides Rudy.
