It was a dull Monday morning. Mary woke up as it was the first day at her new school and she was very excited to meet new friends. She and her mother, who had recently got a job promotion, had just moved into this new town. Neither of them had any friends or family, but they were both very excited to get a fresh start. Mary was a kind little girl who was very eager to meet new people. She couldn't wait for her first day of school and it was finally the time to get ready!

When her mother dropped her off to school Mary began the search for a new friend, she tried talking to some kids but they only ignored her. Unfortunately by the time the bell rang she still hadn't met any friends. Mary began thinking of ways to make friends which distracted her while the teacher was introducing the class to each other. She quickly realised she had lost the chance to meet a new friend.

Soon enough school ended and Mary had yet not made any friends. She was very upset because she had had very high expectations but to her disappointment they were not fulfilled at all. She really wanted to make a friend and have someone to play with. When she got home she was very upset, her mother was still at work although she had left a note asking for Mary to go to the super market to buy some milk.

Mary thought that going to the store would make her feel better and that it could be a chance to do something nice for her hardworking mother. She started walking to the directions of the map she had found, it was only her and her thoughts. Mary was sad and angry that no-one got to know her, everyone ignored her and that had made her feel extremely upset.
