Billy the octopus has just moved to a new town
to start over...again.

He never made any real friends at school
because he was constantly moving from place
to place.

Ocean
Elementary

He was just about to start school at Ocean
Elementary for the first time as a second
grader.

Billy swims to the front door and enters the
office along with his mother, Mama Octopus.
“Hello, my son, Billy, is starting school today
here...do you mind helping us?” politely asked
Mama.
“I would gladly help you” says the principal Mr.
Crab. “You will be in Mrs. Bass’s class. Room
123. If you have any problems, just come to
my office. Good luck!”

Billy swims to the class.
He is a bit embarrassed since he is the new
kid.
Everyone stares as he enters. Mrs. Bass
politely introduces him to the class and tells
him to take a seat in the back of the room.

He had entered in the middle of math class, so
they were learning about math.
Billy wasn’t so good at math, so he tried to pay
attention.

As hard as he tried, he just couldn't’t stay
concentrated...why?

Jake and Nick.

Jake and Nick were the two tiger sharks in the
class.
Billy soon realized that they were the bullies.

They kept making fun of him...because of his
scar.

When Billy was really little, he got separated
from his mom in the Fish Store. Because he
was so little, he was very scared.
A shark approached him when the shark
realized that little Billy was lost.
He told Billy he knew were his mom was, so
Billy followed.
The shark took him into a closet and did some
terrible things.

He attacked Billy, and very hard.
Billy managed to get out of the closet right
before the final bite, but he was still left in
very bad condition.
Billy got bit right on the face.
The Planktionmedics managed to cure Billy,
but he had a scar left on his face forever.

that scar?

Billy was always teased for his scar, but
nothing that hurt his feelings as bad as what
Jake and Nick were saying.
They called him one word that pierced Billy’s
heart and made it feel like it was broken into
two.
All they said was...

Loser.

Billy never liked the word Loser. It meant such
horrible things like wimpy and babyish.

such a loser!

Every day Jake and Nick would tease him in
class, always during math time.
"Ugly"
"Baby"
"Meany"
"Shellfish"
"8 armed freak"
"Loser"

After that first day, Nick and Jake teased Billy
every day. They taunted him all the time with
such offensive names, but the worst was
always "loser".

No one ever really realized that Billy was being
bullied, except for one creature.

Willy.

Willy always knew that the two sharks were
bullies, because he was their old victim. Willy
was the new kid last year, and Jake and Nick
picked on him all the time, but now was Billy's
turn.

He was too scared to stick up for Billy because
of the fear of Jake and Nick coming back for
revenge, so he never said anything.
Willy realized Billy had no friends and
understood how much pain that was. So, Willy
talked to Billy.
