Jane sat excitedly at her desk in her room. She had to finish her research assignment given by her teacher this week. The subject of her homework was about countries and their local food, handicrafts and the games children play there. She decided to start her homework with Türkiye.
When she started her research, she learned that the most famous dish in Turkey is ''Kebab''.
Pelin Çiçek/ 15 Temmuz Şehitleri KAİHL / Turkey
When Jane researched ''kebab'' photos to put in her homework, she came across some delicious pictures. She chose two of these photos and started researching how ''kebab'' is made.
Rukkiye Doğru/ 15 Temmuz Şehitleri KAİHL / Turkey
''It is made by putting together lamb slices in bottle, 10 percent minced meat mixed with milk, chopped onion, black pepper and chili flakes, rubbed between each slice and held together. Its surface is tightly covered with wood ash and then the kebab is roasted horizontally in a wood fire. While the outer surface is browning, the cook takes a metal skewer and passes it over the cooked surface, slices it with a long ''döner'' knife and serves it with thin lavash bread.''
She found the recipe for making the kebab and added it to her homework :

After Turkey, Jane began to discover Greece which is a neighboring country and their traditions and customs are similar.
This time Jane decided to add to her work
two Greek recipes,
a traditional craft
and a team game.
Kleopatra Michaleli/ ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
Jane found a recipe that suited her own tastes as well, chylopites tsouchti, because she likes pasta
and eggs! These ingredients are full of vitamins.
It is also very easy and quick to prepare.
You need:
*1 Packet of Chylopites
(a kind of homemade pasta)
*2 Eggs
*Olive oil
*Mizithra Cheese
*Salt & Pepper
Kleopatra Michaleli/ ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
You bring the Chylopites to boil in water with some salt and then you strain them.
You sauté the Chylopites with the olive oil
and you put the pot aside.
Then you take a frying pan, heat the olive oil
and fry the eggs in it (don't forget the yolkes).
You serve the Chylopites in a platter and
you put the fried eggs on top. You grate
Mizithra cheese all over and put some salt
and pepper on the eggs. That is all!!
Katerina Tranou / ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
Someone can accompany chylopites tsouchti, with a Cretan Dako, as a salad or an appetizer.
You need:
*A Round Barley Rusk
*One Large Grated Tomato
*Feta Cheese
*Virgin Olive Oil
*Black Pepper
*Greek Oregano
*Capers
*Olives
It is also very easy to prepare it:
Katerina Tranou / ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
You spray the Barley Rusks with water to moisten. Then chop the Tomato into a strainer over a bowl so most of the liquid drains off.
You spread the Chopped Tomatoes on the Rusk and top with Cheese.
Sprinkle with Pepper and
a good amount of Oregano
and Capers to taste.
Finally, drizzle with Olive Oil
and the Tomato Juice and of course add Olives!
Maria Kraniti/ ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
Then, she learned how to make Lady Lent
handicraft.
This is a traditional handicraft
Greek children make before Easter.
She is a lady and she must have seven
Legs, one for each week from Clean Monday
to Easter Sunday. She has no mouth
because she is fasting strictly. In her skirt
she has foods that are eaten during fasting. Each week, children cut off one of her legs to count the weeks until Easter.
Maria Kraniti / ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
To make Lady Lend handicraft you need:
*a paper plate
*glue
*markers
*beans for decoration
Maria Kraniti/ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
Jane made notes of how you can make
Lady Lent:
Draw the lady's body. Don't draw a mouth.
Lady Lent does not eat. She fasts strictly!
Draw a cross on her head.
Glue the paper plate as a skirt.
Draw 7 feet.
Stick her feet under the plate.
Fill the plate with beans.
Color the handicraft as you like!
Mary Vassilopoulou / ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
Lastly, Jane learned about a traditional game Greek children play, called Tyflomyga.
They can play this game with a lot of kids, on the schoolyard or at the park!
This is how it is played:
Mary Vassilopoulou/ ENEEGYL Egaleo / GREECE
To start one of the children is chosen by the rest as the mole(Tyflomyga).
One of his teammates blindfolds him/her with a cloth so they can't see, and the game begins. The rest of the children circle around the child doing the mole and tease them. He/she tries to catch one of the children and only wins if they correctly guess which child was caught.

After all these beautiful countries, Jane decided to learn about Romania.
She heard about Dracula stories so she was very curious about this beautiful country from South-East of Europe.
Of course she had to learn about food because romanians love to eat... After looking for different food, she found PAPANASI...yummy....they look delicious.
So she had to learn how to make them.
Ingredients: 500 g cottage cheese,
2 eggs, a few drops rum aroma,
75 g granulated sugar ,
1 sachet vanilla sugar,
230-250 g all-purpose flour ,
1 teaspoon baking soda, cooking oil for frying the doughnuts,

Ecaterina Iordache/ Liceul Tehnologic de Industrie Alimentara Fetesti / Romania
Instructions: Place the cottage cheese into a bowl. Add the eggs and the rum aroma, the granulated, and vanilla sugar. With an immersion blender, blend the ingredients until you obtain a rough paste. The cottage cheese should not be turned into a smooth paste, just blended a little bit to make the cheese balls a little more delicate. Mix of the flour and the baking soda and add them to the cheese mixture. Mix with a spoon. Turn the dough onto the floured surface and knead it lightly to form a ball.Divide the dough into 9 balls. Roll 8 of the balls into thick sausages and unite the sausage ends to get a circle with a hole in the middle. Use the last ball to make 8 little balls, which will be used to top the papanasi.

After finding out about food,
Jane was curious about the handicrafts
from this country. She found out that
on Easter romanians are decorating egs.

After food and handicraft, Jane wanted to learn about games that you can play outside. After some searching she found out about Country, Country, we want soldiers!
Players are divided into 2 teams.
The teams sit face-to-face, in line, a few meters away from each other. All players in a team will hold hands,
forming a “fence”.
The team that starts the game screams:
"Country, country we want soldiers!".
The other team replies, “whom?” the
first team chooses an opposing player
and says his name:......
Cristina Chelbea/ Liceul Tehnologic de Industrie Alimentara Fetesti / Romania
The chosen player must run to the team that called him and break, if he succeeds,
the "fence" formed by them.
If he succeeds, he will return to his team with another person. If he fails, he will remain part of the team that called him.
To break the fence, the player must run through the place where 2 opponents hold hands. The role of the opponents is to stop him without letting go of hands.
Win the game the team that captures
all players

And, as she was going from place to place, admiring the beautiful landscapes of Romania, Jane arrived to a village called Vanatori-Neamt where she met some really nice teens who were very excited to talk to her and share stories about traditions, culture, history and customs. They took her visit the monasteries around, the Natural park where she could see wild animals in their natural habitat. Jane was amazed to see bisons, it was the first time she saw such majestic creatures.
After a while, they decided to stop at a restaurant to eat something because they were very hungry (this is what fresh air does to your body :))

Jane thanked her friends for the recipe and asked them whether they can play a game to have some fun after such a great meal. Her friends were thrilled to teach Jane how to play Cops and Robbers:
Step 1~ the players are divided in 2 teams, called "cops" and "robbers"
Step 2~ after the robbers steal something, Then, they start running while the other team tries to catch them.
~ when a robber is caught, they go to a jail and the game ends when there's no player left in the other team.
Jane learnt the rules right away and they played the game and had a lot of fun.
In the evening, they stayed by the fire and told stories about all kinds of interesting subjects, including scary stories and local legends.
The next day, Jane had to say good bye to her new friends and continue her journey.

Material Required:
colorful paper , scissors , Glue , ruler
Steps:
Choose the colored paper you want , Hence we fold the colored paper one by one on their size to be equal , From the folded end of the paper, we grab a ruler and make longitudinal lines, leaving an equal distance between each line and others. This is followed by rolling the paper in the shape of a roller. We then stick the ends of the paper from the top and bottom until it is held together. We also cut a piece of paper longitudinally, and stick it up the lantern to make the hand from which the lantern child catches.

thought looked fun ; in the beginning
they divide the students into groups, in each group there is a number of students equal to the number of pieces of colored cones, each group has its specific color. There are three colors here: yellow, blue and red.
The first student moves the first cone to the opposite side and returns to her place quickly,

Cristina Silva-Agrupamento de Escolas de Ribeirão/Portugal
When Jane began her research about Portugal, apart from the wonderful sun, people talked about the excellent cuisine. In June, during the Popular Saints festivities, there are grilled sardines, Green Soup and "Leite Creme", one of the favourite desserts of the Portuguese people. she started looking for some Portuguese traditional recipes and suddenly had a brilliant idea: her cousins were coming to spend the weekend with her and she could surprise them! Yes, she would do it!
Cristina Silva-Agrupamento de Escolas de Ribeirão/Portugal
Jane spoke to her mother, who loved the idea. So they decided to make a soup and a dessert. Jane wrote down the recipes on her IPad so everything came out perfect.
Green Soup
Cook the potatoes, onion and two garlic cloves in water seasoned with salt. When cooked, mash everything and bring back to the boil. Add the previously boiled broth and cook for 10 minutes. Remove the soup from the heat and finish by adding a finely chopped clove of garlic, a dash of olive oil and some slices of chorizo.
Cristina Silva-Agrupamento de Escolas de Ribeirão/Portugal
Leite Creme
Ingredients: 1 litre of milk
7 tablespoons sugar
5 egg yolks
4 tablespoons cornstarch
Bring the milk to the boil with the cinnamon stick and
lemon peel. Meanwhile, beat the sugar with the egg yolks and cornflour.
When the milk boils, remove the cinnamon and lemon and slowly
add to the egg mixture, stirring constantly. Place the mixture back in the pan where the milk boiled and use a hand blender Leave on a low heat until it thickens, .Place on a serving dish and sprinkle with cinnamon or burn.
Cristina Silva-Agrupamento de Escolas de Ribeirão/Portugal
Jane's cousins really enjoyed the Portuguese food. They said it was very tasty and even repeated the dessert. All they knew about Portugal was Cristiano Ronaldo!
Jane had been researching some traditional Portuguese games for her English assignment and she suggested that her cousins try the Clock Game.
Cristina Silva-Agrupamento de Escolas de Ribeirão/Portugal
The rues are simple: you need a rope and several people, then one person has to stand in the middle and spin the rope and the other people have to stand around the rope and start jumping from the moment the rope comes close, when the rope hits one person, that person loses and waits until there is a winner. After explaining the rules, they went to play in the garden. It was great fun and Zack, the older cousin, won.
They also played Hopscotch, a game
which is also played in many other
countries and has another curious
name in Portugal : Monkey Game!
Cristina Silva-Agrupamento de Escolas de Ribeirão/Portugal
After dinner, the cousins left. Jane was curious and went to look for more information about Portuguese culture. A coloured rooster, the Galo de Barcelos, one of Portugal's best-known handicrafts, caught her eye.
And she learned that the rooster can be painted in many ways, with the colours you want. All you need is imagination and a lot of skill.

Jane is eager to learn about Tunisia.
Jane loved the idea that she could now discover a country from Africa.
Tunisia is a wonderful mosaic of different cultures.
Food, games, and handicrafts were Jane's targets.
She discovered a very special starter in Tunisian kitchen. Let's start a new adventure.

Jane enjoyed how to make BRIK
Ingredients:
malsouka (or lumpia or egg roll wrappers)
eggs (one for each brik you wish to make)
Vegetable oil
1 bunch of parsley chopped
one bunch of green onions or 1 medium white onion chopped
1-2 tbs Parmesan cheese
1-2 cans tuna drained well
pinch of salt and black pepper
Optional fillings:
1-2 large russet potatoes, boiled and mashed
Faten Abdelmalek/ Abdelmajid Bouchemaoui school/ Tunisia
Preparation:
Separate and fold the malsouka (or lumpia wrappers) into triangle shapes. Since these are round, the easiest way is to fold in 4 edges to make somewhat of a square, then fold one corner of the square across to the opposite one to create a triangle. Set these aside and keep covered well until ready to use so they don't dry out.
In a bowl mix together all the other ingredients and set aside.
Heat a frying pan with about a half inch of vegetable oil on just over medium heat and make sure its hot enough to fry before you start assembling your brik.
In a plate, place your square wrapper, and line two of the edges with the parsley/tuna mixture making sure they connect. This will serve as a border to keep the egg in place. Sprinkle the center of the wrapper with a little salt and pepper and carefully crack your egg right on top of the salt and pepper.
Faten Abdelmalek/ Abdelmajid Bouchemaoui school/ Tunisia
Fold over the top of the wrapper and using the plate, gently slide it into the oil. Use a spoon to gently press the brik closed and spoon some of the hot oil onto the side not submerged in the oil. While it cooks on one side, you can make a second brik and cook them at the same time.
Let the brik fry for about 2-3 minutes or until a nice golden brown before flipping to the other side and repeating.
*Note: Tunisian brik is traditionally made with a runny egg. To achieve this, you will want to be careful how long you leave the brik in the frying oil, and it will take some trial and error. If you prefer a hard-cooked egg, leave it to fry longer.
Remove the brik and place it on a paper towel-lined plate and continue frying as many briks as you wish to make.
When finished, place on a serving dish and garnish with lemon or lime wedges (to squeeze over) and serve immediately. Enjoy it JANE!

Popular games in Tunisia are so much, but Skipping rope is an excellent form of exercise and a fun way for kids to get creative while they move. Jumping rope can be a good solo activity or a fun game with friends. Jump rope games are great because they don't require a lot of expensive equipment or space, and they're appropriate for children of all skill levels and abilities.

The small shells seem to easily find their way into numerous craft projects such as decorating picture frames, necklaces, etc. However, it is quite common to find yourself with mid-sized shells. Too big for small crafts, not large enough for a display.
You can always use them to decorate your garden, room, or even the kitchen. Kids in Tunisia enjoyed it during the Summer holiday and you need just glue and a beautiful idea.
Jane loved the idea so much!

Jane found out that Czech children are very skilled. This octopuses are made of a fleece blanket:
Place the foam ball in the center of the fleece square, size 40cmx40cm. Then cut snips, braid three fringes together and tie off ends. Octopus has got 8 "legs". Glue eyes and draw a mouth. Put the octopus on your head and smile!
