in Ḥall shukūk fī Kitāb Uqlīdis ("Solution of Euclid's Elemental Difficulties") Ibn al Haytam solved Euclid's thereoms using direct evidence. He made a lengthy study of parallel lines in Sharḥ muṣādarāt Kitāb Uqlīdis ("Commentary on Euclid's Elemental Premise") and based his treatment of parallels on equidistant lines rather than Euclid's definition of lines never meeting.
