In a hospital room a mother held her newborn son named 

Rickey and held him ever so carefully in her arms. 

While he was fast asleep the mother would sing: 

        "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, 

        you make me happy, when skies are gray, 

        you’ll never know dear, how much I love you

    so please don’t take my sunshine away."    

As Rickey got older. He got bigger and bigger until he was three. Rickey was very energetic and  played with things he shouldn’t. One afternoon the mother found Rickey in the bathroom with vaseline all over his body. Sometimes the mother would say to herself  “this kid is driving me insane!”

At night time the mother would sneak into Rickey’s room and come sit at the edge of the bed and

While he was fast asleep the mother would sing:

        "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, 

        you make me happy, when skies are gray, 

        you’ll never know dear, how much I love you

        please don’t take my sunshine away"

As Rickey got older. He got bigger and bigger until he was fourteen. Rickey only ever wanted to be with his friends and only spoke to his mother when he needed something. Sometimes the mother would say to herself “this kid never spends time with me"

But at night time the mother would still sneak into Rickey’s room and come sit at the edge of the bed and

While he was fast asleep the mother would sing:

        "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, 

        you make me happy, when skies are gray, 

        you’ll never know dear, how much I love you

        so please don’t take my sunshine away”

As Rickey got older. He got bigger and bigger until he was eighteen. Rickey got very sick and had to spend a lot of time at the hospital. 

The mother would say to herself “Why does my boy have to be sick?”

At night time the mother would quietly open the door and sneak into Rickey’s room and come sit at the edge of the bed and

While he was fast asleep the mother would sing:

        "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, 

        you make me happy, when skies are gray, 

        you’ll never know dear, how much I love you

        so please don’t take my sunshine away”

On June 22, 2020 Rickey had his last day of chemo. He got older and as he got older he became more aware of all the things his mother did for him.

Even though Rickey doesn't spend as much time with his mother as he should. There is not a day that goes by where he doesn't thank God for blessing him with his mother.
