Bad ending is where you did not collect all the chaos emeralds and Eggman got them and Eggman land is created. to prevent this from happening you need to collect all the emeralds before the game is over and you beat it. The good ending is you collected all 6 chaos emeralds you stopped eggman and brought peace to the world for now.
