Jack is a German Sheppard. He is blind in one eye. That's
why his masters, Susan and Russ, call him One-Eyed Jack.
Jack left his home in Kentucky for a big adventure-
traveling to Georgia! He visited all sorts of cool places all
over the state.

Jack flew to Georgia for the big adventure! While on the
plane, Jack learned some facts about Georgia from the
guidebook.
"Georgia is divided into five regions," he read. "The
Appalachian Plateau, The Ridge and Valley, The Blue Ridge,
The Piedmont, and the Coastal Plains." Jack can't wait to
land so he can explore all the regions of Georgia.

Jack landed in the Appalachian Plateau region of Georgia and was
ready to begin exploring. But first, Jack needed to know more about
the Appalachian Plateau. He got out his guidebook.
"The Appalachian Plateau is the smallest region of Georgia," he read.
"It is located in the NW corner of the state and it has mild
temperatures like the rest of Georgia." Jack continues, "It is also
known as the TAG corner because Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia
meet here." Jack found this very interesting.

Jack decided to check out the historical Chickamauga Battle Site in
the Appalachian Plateau region before moving on to his next
Georgia Adventure - the Ridge and Valley region!
Wow," thought Jack. "The Appalachian Plateau has so much to do! I wonder
what the Ridge and Valley will be like?

One-Eyed Jack was in the Ridge and Valley region, he wanted to
see how much there was to do in the region.
Jack got out his guidebook again and read, "The Ridge and Valley
region is East of the Appalachian Plateau. it has high ridges and
low valley. It is heavily forested and very little farming can occur.
The region is known for carpet in the town of Dalton, and apple
orchards in Ellijay."

"Carpet and apples?!" Jack thought. "How boring! Hmm... then
again, carpet is soft, and apples are food, so perhaps I'll explore
the Ridge and Valley region after all."

After visiting the apple orchards and carpet factory in the Ridge and
Valley region, Jack moved farther east, into the Blue Ridge region.
Here, he saw a blueish haze over the mountains. "How strange!"
Jack thought. "The mountains are blue. I wonder why?" One-Eyed
Jack got out his guidebook to find out.
"The Blue Ridge region gets it's name from the blue haze over the
mountains. The foggy blue color is caused by vegetation," Jack
read. "In the region, you can do many things, such as hike the
Appalachian Trail to Maine, or visit Amicalola Falls, the tallest
waterfall east of the Mississippi River. But bring your rain jacket!
This region gets the most precipitation in all of Georgia!"

"Well, this region seems to have many more things to do than the
Ridge and Valley did," One-Eyed Jack thought. "I'm definitely
staying here a while!"

Jack made his way to
Amicalola Falls. When he
arrived, he was surprised
to see another dog there!
"Hi!" he barked. "I'm Jack. "What's your name?"
The other dog replied, "My name's Morgan. Are you from here?"
Jack told Morgan all about his adventures in Georgia. "Will you
show me around the rest of the state?" he asked the puppy.
