While the little kid grows, he asks the tree for things.

The only thing that the tree could give him was the materials. Apples to sell. 

The tree gave the kid his branches for his house and his trunk to build his boat.

The little boy was not so little. He was an older man who could not do anything no more. He went to the tree and told the tree that he did not need anything but a place to rest.

The tree offered the older man his trunk to rest, and the older man sat on his trunk.
