I can't sit still!

  It’s not that I don’t try. 

I try to be still and be quiet and even a little shy...

But when my mind races, as it often does, I tap with my pencil, I sometimes leave my desk, and I want to talk to everyone and anyone, no matter where I’m at.

I want to talk to get all the thoughts out of my mind, which isn’t good when you need to listen.

I want to listen. I really do. But it’s hard when your mind is always going from one thing to another. That’s why I tend to go from one thing        to another too.

One day when I was in class, and I was fidgeting a whole lot, my whole body was in knots and I couldn’t stop.

I wiggled in my chair, and I drummed on my desk, and I twisted my body, and I spoke to my friend. 

Then my teacher came up to my desk.

I lowered my head, and said with regret, “I can’t sit still”, sounding very sorry for that.

She lifted my head, and with a smile on her face she said, 

"I can help you with that!"

I was shocked she said that, shocked but glad. 

She started giving me things to help me sit. 

I got cushions for my seat to help me stay at my desk. 

I got a band that goes under my desk that helps               me stay on task.

I was allowed short breaks to walk around. the class.
