On my way out west to Lake Waramaug, I sit with my
goofy husband who is driving our middle-aged minivan to
one of my favorite destinations in the world. My mouth
waters as I deeply inhale the rich aroma of the coffee
swishing around in my mug which is warming my fingers.
The weak heat from the sun's newly born rays is fighting
with cool rush of air from the air conditioning my
husband insists on blasting at full speed. I can't help
but to chuckle as I listen to the off-key singing from my
three children as they croon along with the latest pop
song. As I get dizzy from the multi-colored cars
whizzing past me, I wonder what kind of adventures we
will have this weekend out west at Lake Waramaug.

Out West at Lake Waramaug I am a careful
kayaker. The wind brushes my face and swirls my
hair around into my eyes. My stomach muscles
begin to ache as I carefully balance myself in this
long, plastic boat. One wrong move and I will tip
over and drench myself! As I slowly paddle along, I
listen to the nature sounds all around me. I
especially am enamored with the mournful cries
from the lonely loon, searching for its mate. As I
smell the delicious aroma of burgers on a distant
grill, I am reminded that I must return home soon,
before the sun settles down for the night.
