Tribal groups on the plains had a unique lifestyle & customs. They were often nomadic, following the herds of buffalo. Imagine the wide plains, where tribal groups thrived. They lived in teepees & valued their community. Story telling, music & beadwork were definitely cherished & a great factor. Hunting and nature were sacred; harmony with land defined their lives.

The Wounded Knee Battle/ Massacre was a tragic event that took place in December of 1890, in South Dakota. The confrontation occurred between the United States Army and the Lakota Sioux, who were suffering under harsh conditions on reservations. Tensions were high, and when a misunderstanding occurred during a disarmament attempt, shots were fired. The army responded with overwhelming force. This resulted in the death of 150-300 death, including children.

Sitting Bull

Sitting Bull was an incredible leader and warrior of the Lakota Sioux tribe. He was born in 1831 in South Dakota.  Sitting bull played  a significant role in the resistance against the U.S  governments encroachment on Native American lands. He's remembered for his bravery, wisdom and, determination to protect his people's way of life. Unfortunately, he passed away on December 15,1890 due to conflict with the Indian police.

American settlers were brave folks who ventured west for new opportunities. To add on, they were courageous pioneers who ventured Westward in order to search for new opportunities & a fresh start. Cowboys & vaqueros played a vital role in the cattle industry. They herded cattle, lived a rugged life on the range & shaped the American West.

During the development of the railroad in the U.S, there were definitely some problems & abuses that arose. One major issue was the mistreatment of workers, including long hours, low wages, and dangerous working conditions. Additionally, there were instances of corruption and monopolistic practices by railroad companies, which led to unfair pricing and limited competition. These problems eventually sparked labor movements and strikes as workers fought for better rights & conditions.

During this time, factories were the heart of production. However, the conditions inside these factories were often harsh and unsafe. Workers faced long hours, low wages, and dangerous machinery without proper safety measures. This led to the rise of labor unions, which were organizations formed by workers to fight for better conditions, fair wages & shorter hours. The populist party was a political party that emerged in the late 19th century in the United States. They were all about representing the common people, especially farmers and laborers, who felt left behind by the big businesses and wealthy elites. The populists advocated for economic reforms, such as the regulation of big corporations, income tax, and free coinage of silver. They also pushed for political reforms, like direct election of senators and the use of initiatives and referendums. The populist party had a significant impact on American politics.

Later on in life, he donated a significant portion of his wealth to various causes, including education & public health.
