1. Hourglass of Dreams
My old granny and my nanny,
They used to knit.
In their cosy corners by the fire they'd sit,
On a sunny day, their laughter would flit.
In the warmth of that sunlight, one day a mouse appeared,
Granny's glow disappeared.
Old Granny, her soul filled with fear,
Jumped so high, she nearly kissed the ceiling light.
After that harrowing evening ,
She couldn’t sleep at night .
She tossed and turned and turned , and every little noise filled her with awful fright,
So off to the hospital she went with her plight,
Where she spent the rest of her remaining years,
day and night.
In that sunny corner Granny once sat ,
Now resides a mouse wearing her old straw hat.
It nibbles on yarn and yarns away ,
Oh so wise !
Perhaps another Granny lives there in a
mousey disguise!
Now only nanny sits in the sunny corner,
Telling about her life and her memories.
When the Titanic sank and the Wilbur brothers flew,
Oh! The wonderful memories she blew!
Not to forget those little details she bestowed,
The tales of her school life she played the dunce and fool for sure.
She’d give me a tour of her life and the joyful times,
Sneaking out for midnight feasts with all the silly crimes .
Her spirit is still inside me while I sit by the fire ,
While my grandchildren admire me as the flames danced and rose high up.
I share with these stories , just as my old nanny did ,
Of I life I spent with joys and wonders ,
Now I marvel at how young I was before …
NOTE TO READERS
In the cozy corners of life, where laughter echoes and the warmth of the fire wraps around us like an old, cherished blanket, we find the heart of our existence—the moments we spend with friends and family are very important. Never forget to spend time with them.
Life is a journey, a tapestry woven with the threads of joy and wonder. It is a collection of stories waiting to be told, to be passed down like heirlooms from one storyteller to another.
2. TWO SISTERS
Two sisters were going to the beach,
To give themselves a wonderful treat.
Each carried a basket that had platters of food,
Not to forget a bone for their puppy they had to include.
High sand dunes were piling up,
They climbed each one with their little pup.
The sea breeze wandered about,
Bringing a salty taste for their little mouths.
The sea was calm and the blue waves glistened,
As the sisters listened.
The gulls were soaring high up in the sky,
Normal for a sunny day in July.
The sisters found a perfect spot,
They kept a blanket and spread all the food they bought.
They munched on their food and looked around,
The sea waves were a calming sound.
After eating they scouted the shore,
Looking for shells and things galore.
The sisters enjoyed the day,
They watched the sunset and
the sea turn grey.
