''Josiah? Breakfast is ready,'' Hannah said, looking over to her brother.
Hannah and her family are on a journey to California from Missouri.
Josiah opened his eyes. ''Biscuits again?'' the eight-year-old asked.
Twelve-year-old Hannah nodded. ''Biscuits.''
Josiah groaned. The Arndale family have been eating biscuits almost every day.
''Ma put a little sugar in it,'' Hannah coaxed.
''Fine,'' Josiah grumbled.

''Annie, will you please serve Josiah?''
Annie nodded cheerfully. ''Sure!''
''Hannah, Hannah!'' Hannah's fourteen-year-old sister yelled.
''Oh, Hannah, please help me. I was supposed to watch Emily (the youngest sister who is four) but I go distracted. Please help me find her!''
Hannah hesitated. ''But Ma and Pa told us to never venture alone.''
''Please, Hannah?"
''I'm sorry, Elinore. Please try and understand,'' Hannah told her older sister. Elinore groaned- clearly she didn't understand.

Quarreling
Hannah went outside to where most of the other family were already eating.
''Hannah, you missed the prayer,'' Ma said gently.
''Where is Elinore and Emily?'' Pa asked.
''Ummm... Emily's missing,'' Hannah said carefully.
''Goodness, me!'' Ma said, looking distraught.
''Just when we were about to move camp,'' Pa said.
''Really?'' Hannah said, worried.
''There's a rumor of robbers coming to our area. We have to find your sister soon.''
The search began, looking for her all over the field.

''Emily! Emily!'' Everyone called out. Hannah wander off from her family.
''Emily! Emily!'' she called.
''Hannah!'' a small voice said.
Hannah realized Emily was in a cave, with rocks blocking her escape!
Hannah ran back to her parents. ''Emily's stuck in a cave!''
Ma gasped.
''We have to get the other people who are traveling with us so we can pull the rocks off!'' Pa yelled. He ran back to camp and asked everyone for help.
It took a long time, but finally the rocks were removed and Emily came out, crying, ''Mama! Mama!''

''Emmy, it's alright,'' Ma said, soothing the poor girl.
''Now pay up, Chester. We did a deed for you, now pay up!''
The wagon captain calmed everyone down, saying, ''Leave the family be. They are good people; don't end their journey, taking their money.''
Eventually everyone agreed.
Elinore apologized over and over for losing track of Emily. So Ma and Pa forgave her.
''Time to get a move-on. We're a few hours late already,'' the captain said. Hannah's family finished packing and continued moving.
