Once upon a time, there was a miller who had three sons. At his death, the oldest received the mill, the middle son- the donkey, and the youngest- a cat.

It was a magic cat because he started to talk to his master:
Don't be sad! I can help you to become a rich and famous man, if you buy for me a large pair of leather boots!
The young man was very surprised, but he bought a beautiful pair of boots.

As he was a cunning cat, he caught a plump rabbit. He put it inside his bag and went to the King's Court. He said that the rabbit is a present for the King from his master - the Marquis de Carrabas. Beside the King was his daughter, a beautiful princess.

Soon, the puss in boots became a friend for King's Court. One day, the King and the princess went in a carriage along the river bank.

Puss took his master down to the river and said:
Take off your clothes and get into the water!
When the King's carriage approached, puss started to shout:
Help! My master is drowning!

All the King's suite jumped into the river and rescued the young man. All of them were very surprised because the Marquis had no proper clothes, suitable for his rank. The puss told them that all the clothes were stolen.
We must fetch suitable replacement from the palace! said the King.
Dressed like a real marquise, the young man was presented to the King.
The Marquis joined the King in the royal carriage. Puss in boots raced ahead. He came across some peasants working in a field. He challenged them:
When the King asks you to whom belong these fields, declare The Marquis de Carrabas! or will be worse for you!
The workers agreed.
Then, the puss came upon a village. He told the villagers:
When the King asks you whose lands are these, declare The Marquis de Carrabas! or will be worse for you.

The King was very impressed.
Puss in boots came at last to a castle. He knocked at the door. An enormous ogre appeared.
