There was once a little girl named Lily. Lily was a very kind little girl, who loved to give things to people, and help others.

    One day she remembered her grandmother's birthday was coming up, and Lily wondered what present she could give her.

    Lily decided she'll get her a beautiful bouquet of flowers, the best she could find. ''But where can I find the flowers?'' she puzzled.

    She asked her mom, and her mom said, ''You can go to the town garden. Surely you will find some good flowers there.''

    So off Lily went, and when she arrived at the garden, the sweet smell of flowers welcomed her.

    But, even then, she still couldn't find the right flowers. Lily left the garden, empty-handed.

    As she was walking out, Lily spotted a boy selling birthday cards. ''I shall get the prettiest one,'' she decided, and walked on over.

    But, as there were to many to choose from, Lily couldn't make up her mind!

    So, Lily left the card stand, feeling a little down. What gift shall she get her beloved grandmother?

    She thought of cleaning her yard. But that would take too much time.

    She thought of getting her a dress. But dresses were awfully expensive.

    She thought of decorating her house. But grandmother would be in her house and Lily could not tell her to leave.

    Oh, what can Lily get for her grandmother?

    Suddenly, the days flew by. Lily still had no idea what to get her grandmother, and her birthday was the next day!

    ''I shall go for a walk to get my thoughts sorted out,'' she decided.

    As she walked around their property, Lily could smell the sweet smell of crisp apples. Her family grew an apple orchard in their backyard. Lily took an apple and was about to take a bite when-

    An idea!

    She can give grandmother a huge basket of apples!

    Lily thought, 'Grandmother would sure love the apples. She can make apple pie with them. Now, I just have to find the nicest basket, and then I'll put some of our finest apples inside, just for grandma.'
