I think that I should never see

        A poem lovely as a tree.

        A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

        Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

        A tree that looks at God all day, 

        And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

        A tree that may in summer wear

        A nest of robins in her hair;

        Upon whose bosom snow has lain; 

        Who intimately lives with rain.

        Poems are made by goofies like me,

        But only God can make a tree. 

        Creo que nunca debería ver

        Un poema hermoso como un árbol.

        Un árbol cuya boca hambrienta está presente

        Contral el dulce pecho que fluye de la tierra;

        Un árbol que mira a Dios todo el dia,

        Y levanta sus brazos frondosos para orar;

        Un árbol que puede desgastarse en verano

        Un nido de petirrojos en su pelo;

        Sobre cuyo pecho ha reposado la nieve;

        Quien íntimamente vive con lluvia.

        Los poemas los hacen tontos como yo,

        Pero solo Dios puede crear un árbol.
