Zayan Bedi was laying down on his bed, lost in his
thoughts. In two weeks he would have to find a
bride in order to keep his family happy. His father
couldn't wait any longer. Zayan was pulled back
into reality as his father called him. "The Bhola
family wants you to meet their daughter. She is
very nice and pretty," his father said to him. The
two of them headed down to their neighbors home.

Mr. Bhola came out to greet them. They were
invited inside to a huge dinner table filled with
food. Zayan sat next to Mr. Bhola's daughter,
Anika. Throughout the whole meal they made
small talk, but as he and his father headed
home Zayan noticed he hadn't felt a single thing
towards her. "So what do you think?" his father
asked him. "She was very nice, but father she
isn't the one," Zayan replied. His father stopped
and glared at him.

"Zayan, you need to stop being so picky.
This is the sixth girl you've met. We
can't keep doing this." Zayan didn't
know what to say. He didn't think the
girls he had met were the one he was
looking for. "I'll make a decision in a
week. I just need to think about it,"
he said finally. His father
smiled,"That's my boy." When they
made it home, Zayan went directly to
bed, thinking of how trapped and
unhappy he felt throughout the whole
night.

The next morning Zayan went to the market to
get more food for his family. As he was paying
for his food, a man walked up next to him. The
man was tall and very handsome. He had a
smile plastered on his face as he turned to face
Zayan. "Do you know if they sell Dabeli here?"
the man asked. For a second Zayan was too
startled to speak. "Yes they do, I can show you
were it is," he said. The two of them headed
down the aisles.

"So what's your name?" Zayan asked.
The man turned to him and said, "I'm
Aarav Kaur and you are?"
"Zayan Bedi. Oh, here they are." He
gestured to the food. "Thank you," Aarav
said. Zayan knew that he had nothing
left to do for Aarav, but he couldn't
bring himself to leave. He knew that
this might be his only chance to ever
see him. Aarav noticed Zayan just
standing there and asked, "Is something
wrong?"

"Well I was just wondering if you'd
like to go to the Ganesh Chaturth with
me?" Zayan blushed. Aarav laughed and
asked, "Like just us?"
Zayan stared at the floor, "Yes. It ends
tomorrow and you know..." he trailed
off. Aarav smiled and said, "Well I
would love to go." Pure happiness flooded
Zayan and for the rest of the day the two
of them walked around the market. But
as Zayan walked into the doors of his
home he wondered what he would tell
his family.

"The don't need to know anything yet."
he thought. The next day, Aarav and
Zayan walked around the streets joining
in the singing and dancing in
celebration of Lord Ganesha. As they
watched the people submerge the
statues Zayan said, "I want to keep
doing this." Aarav looked at him with
a confused expression on his face. "I
mean talking to you and being around
you. You make me very happy."
"Likewise," Aarav replied.

For the next week, the two of them went
everywhere together. No matter what they were
doing Zayan was filled with happiness. One
day, the topic of marriage was brought up. "My
father wants me to marry some very pretty,
young girl. But I don't want to do that." Zayan
said. "I have the same problem," Aarav replied
with tears in his eyes.
"I wish we could just marry each other." Zayan
said with an awkward laugh.
Aarav looked at him. "Maybe we could."
