When I was a child I loved spending vacations at my grandparents' house in the country.

When I was a child I spent vacations on my grandparents' farm in Guano, which is in the Province of Chimborazo. The days were long and full of adventures. My cousins and I explored every corner of the fields, chasing goats and catching chickens as the sun set in the distance.
One vacation afternoon, while we were playing in the parish park near my grandparents' house in the country, we heard a strange sound. Curious, we ran towards the noise, which was getting louder. As we got closer, we could see a group of workers installing a new fence around the grass in the yard.
"What are you doing?" I asked one of the workers.
"We are putting up a fence to prevent the cows from escaping," he replied.

My cousins and I watched as they drove the posts into the ground and placed the wire between them. It was hard work, but they seemed to be making progress.
When the sun began to set, my grandmother called us for dinner. We washed our hands in the sink and sat at the table, where a delicious meal awaited us. After dinner, we helped with the dishes before heading out to watch the sunset stars.
That night, as we talked with my cousins in bed, I couldn't stop thinking about the workers putting up the fence. I wondered how long it would take them to finish and if that would keep the cows safe.
