My family and I live in a heavily populated city in the Progressive Era, so we have to live in tenements. It is small and expensive, but my parents and older siblings work to afford it. We are a family of working-class, unskilled workers, so we must start the day early to get to work. We get up at five a.m. and start the day.

We all head our separate ways, with my father and brother leaving to sell goods in the market, my mother leaving to the school to teach, and my sisters and I heading to the factory, where we sew women's garments until 7 p.m., with a 30 minute break for lunch in between. It's hard work, but my sisters and I must endure it if we want to support our family. 

After work, my siblings, mother, and friends meet up at a suffragette meeting to discuss possible future protests and campaigns to get more people on our cause. We're a part of the National Women's Party, where we plan and stage hunger strikes, pickets, and boycotts. All of this is to bring attention to women's rights and labor reforms.
