Dear Diary,                                                July 12, 1520

I just celebrated my birthday properly for the first time. Thanks to my father's great help with planning different strategies for the military, I had my first family birthday, and it was the best day of my life! I am really happy to spend quality time with my beloved family. They even gave me a nice toy, a ‘dog with wheels!’ It was the best present ever, even though I had never had one before! I love you, mom. I love you, dad! Thank you for everything because the world wouldn’t be the same without you in it. I have to go now; we are having my favorite food, and I am ready to have a great birthday!

Dear Diary,                                                                                                July 15, 1520

It’s been three days and I am bored! If you didn’t know, my name is Atlatonin! My mother said that my name has special honor to my family because of the name meaning ‘goddess.’ Also, I have one brother and two sisters (they’re twins). Living with three siblings is extremely complicated, considering the fact that I am the eldest of all. My brother, Extli, is very cursed, his name means ‘blood,’ which actually fits him. He is the most annoying brother anyone can have. Whenever we go to the floating gardens, he starts tackling the flowers and dances around, causing a huge scene. Sometimes I wish he didn’t exist because he has issues to sort out. My sisters, however, are different. Their names even rhyme! Caia is twenty seconds older than Maya. I love them both very much, and they are very respectful and kind-hearted. If I had to choose a favorite sibling, it would definitely not be my brother, but honestly, my favorite is Caia because we are very close, and every time we hang out together, we have cherished memories. These past few years have been difficult, though. There have been lots of concerns of people, and they are going to attack our empire, but for now, my dad has been running some errands, and is trying his best to dig deep more about this so-called attack. Anyway, I have to go, but I will make sure to talk more about this another time! Goodbye for now, dear diary!

Dear Diary,                                                                                                        July 20, 1520

I’m so tired! I just came from the floating farms, and my father noticed that some of the crops were dying. The corn was tilting, the beans were smooshed, and worst of all, the sweet potatoes were dying! I love sweet potatoes; they are the best crops out of the lot. Every week, at least one day, we would eat cooked sweet potatoes, and without a doubt, I would finish them. Also, on my way back home, I couldn’t help but notice multiple slaves walking around the hub, looking very tired and practically dead. When I asked my father about it, he just looked at me and smiled, not ready to answer. To be honest, I wasn’t happy with how he responded because I felt extremely bad for them. They looked like they could use a break, and my father didn't seem to care that they appeared unrested for several days. When we reached the marketplace, there was so much to buy that I couldn’t decide! However, ultimately, I chose to buy this beautiful rug for our living room inside our house. Even though we had enough, my mother loves collecting new items, so this is essentially a gift for her. I really hope she likes it because I spent a lot of money on it. Caia accompanied me to the market, and we both agreed on this choice. I have to go now, but I’m about to surprise my mom! See you!

Dear Diary,                                                                                                                                            July 22, 1520

Just like I suspected, my mother loved the new rug! She even added it to her collection! I even went to the floating gardens today because I needed some 'time out' from the house. Extli, that little brat, just gets on my nerves every time I am trying to have some alone time. Now that he is being disciplined by my parents, Caia, Maya, and I get to make fun of him, which is awesome! Our parents don't blame us because he does have the right to feel guilty, but although they're trying their best to make him regret his actions, I don't really think he is going to change. There is no way that Extli, the devil, is going to change that easily because he has his issues that he needs to deal with. He also has his own definition of discipline, which in my opinion, is the complete opposite. Because I didn't want Maya to be involved in Extli's drama, Caia and I decided to take her with us as well. After all, I need to start spending more time with her. She has already gone through too much, considering the fact that she gets very disturbed by our brother's behavior. When we went to the floating gardens, we found multiple plants growing all around us, and it was phenomenal! We saw roses, violets, and many other unique types of flowers. On our way back home, we encountered many homeless people on the streets, so my twin sisters and I decided to help out by feeding them bread that we bought just minutes earlier! The poor people looked very happy that they were able to eat because they had mentioned that they hadn't eaten for days, which is very heartbreaking. When we got home, Extli, who was practically filled with rage, got up and screamed in the living room so loudly that he almost broke Mom's textiles that she had bought from the market years ago. If you didn't know, he is just a year younger than me, so for his age, he was acting like a complete baby. Even Caia and Maya are younger than him! It must suck to be in his place, considering that he's already in trouble with Mom and Dad. Anyway, I'd better get to my room before Extli blames me for something I didn't do! I will see you soon, diary, and now, I better get to my room!

Dear Diary,                                                                                July 25, 1520

What an awful day! A storm had arisen out of nowhere in the empire, and we think that this was very random considering that it’s summertime. My brother, Extli, started panicking freakishly, which was so funny! Me and Maya started laughing to the ground and his face turned into a tomato. Afterwards, we were told that we had to go to school. Because of this, me being the older sister, got all my siblings ready (yes, even Extli), and we walked off to school. Of course, Extli tried to come up with an excuse to not go to school, like saying that he forgot to take a shower, which was so stupid because I was waiting for him in the shower for twenty minutes. School, although, was pretty good! I have to go now, but I will talk to you later. Goodbye for now, diary!

Dear Diary,                                                                                    July 28, 1520

What an interesting day! We saw wolves in the forest when we walked right past the gardens! It was so cool! Maya wanted to stay longer and get to pet one of them, but we also had to do our homework, which was a big run over during our watch. She honestly looked like she was about to cry, but Caia managed to calm her down. Extli, on the other hand, was gossiping about girls. He has been crazy about this girl at school, and would not stop talking about her! It’s so creepy and I can’t even think straight with him being so… cheesy! Sometimes, I feel like punching him, but I’m the best sister ever, so I don’t. Well, I have to urgently go, my father wants to talk to me, and whenever he interrupts, it must mean something important. Bye!
