Introduction
Did you know there are more than 340 species of hummingbirds today?

Habitat
Around 340 species of hummingbirds are in the New World. Hummingbirds can be found in Tierra Del Fuego to Southern Alaska and from below sea level deserts to steamy tropical forests and in the Andes of South America.

Food
Hummingbirds eat bugs, nectar, aphids, beetles, wasps, gnats, mosquitoes, and wasps.

Adaptations
The main adaptation of all of the 340 hummingbird species is the beak. Hummingbirds have a very long pointed beak. They use it like a straw to drink nectar from flowers, since the nectar is deep inside the flowers. Without this very long pointed beak, hummingbirds wouldn't be able to get their food easily.

Predators
Some of the predators include owls, grackles, blue jays, herons, tanagers, loggerhead shrikes, and even gulls. Also, the venom in the bee and wasp stings can kill hummingbirds.
