A tropical storm was coming to land in Houston and everyone was anticipating that so they could prepare. Jeanette worked at the hospital and called to assist since these two main characters were in an accident. The doctor operated the mother whilst having a power outage and the daughter was treated. The flickering of lights and swooshing of winds started when the storm unexpectedly landed faster. The floors below slowly became flooded due to the small leak that became a huge flow of water that was coming out of the vent. Jeanette helped Jodi to get the blood supplies since these areas will be flooded very soon and the doctor might need blood since the condition of the patient is critical based on her injuries. The daughter kept on asking about her mom but Jeanette could only provide minimal information since the
operation wasn’t done. The backup generators were shut down since the water that was coming from the vent might cause further damage. The nurses and doctor were worried since the system was down the medicine couldn’t be accessed since the cart was electronically computerized. Doctor Foster kept on dismissing the nurses' opinions constantly insisting that they should do what they had been told. Jeanette insisted that they should stay and realistically save lives. Later on, Doctor Foster changed his mind and supported by Nurse Jeanette who is the right hand in the administration kept pushing until help arrived from the different departments and people and they were able to transport everyone.
The phrase “ The Nurse is the Heart of the Hospital” for me means that they act as the circulatory system in our body. The circulatory system consists of arteries, blood, blood vessels, and capillaries with the heart pumping in it. The circulatory system is responsible for keeping the blood flowing throughout the body and blood carries oxygen and that oxygen is what every tissue needs. The nurses keep the flow of the hospital since they deliver the treatment needed, monitor the vital signs, administer drugs, and offer comfort to patients who are in distress or pain. They also establish a family or a community in the hospital since nurses are collaborative in nature to alleviate and promote the optimum level of health. The circulatory system has two 2 circuits of circulation: the pulmonary and systemic circulation and each circulation
has its unique role just like the nurses. Every nurse in a department or station has their own role in keeping the balance. The nurses are also the patient advocates ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met within the healthcare system. Nurses are also educators they relay information to the client to promote wellness and disease prevention.
Disasters are unpredictable in nature that just suddenly occur although some of it are preventable. Disaster have 2 types natural and man-made. Natural disaster is course of nature or some would say it is an Act of God whilst man-made is the disaster caused by human by abusing the environment and everything in it. Being prepared in everything especially when it comes to disaster will definitely keep you prepared and discipline. Evacuation plan is efficiently plan to help the patients to to have a safe place when In times of disaster. Carefully, assessing the situations to determine a better routes and allocating the resources and medical supplies and equipments. One of the uniqueness of evacuation is assessing the needs of the
patient including the minor cases, critically ill, immobile and requires specialized care. It’s important to participate in drills the hospital so every health care professional would be able to respond properly and would be able to save lives when it comes to disaster it enhances evacuation procedures, response time and enhancing the coordination to promote smooth transport and evacuation. The evacuation is well-planned it can help to save lives and the mitigation towards the disaster and to the facility.

After watching the film, I had learned something, being alert and have a presence of mind are factors needs to be considered. Disaster is unpredictable in nature, you don’t when and where it will occur you just have to be ready. In the film, disaster is chaotic and any situation will arise if you don’t handle it properly. I hope to have that skills of leadership that the nurse applied in the movie since being leader is all about “us” not “me” or “I” if we were able to succeed while I’m in charge of that ship that means I’m effective.
