Henry David Thoreau

Henry David Thoreau was an American essayist, poet, and Philosopher. Born on July 12, 1817 in Concord Massachusetts. Grew up as the third child and would attend Concord academy for school. After graduting at Concord he would attend Harvard University. Would sadly pass away on May 6, 1862 in Concord Massachusetts.

Henry David Thoreau believed that nature was an amazing source of inspiration and a mirror of the divine. He thought that being in nature help with spiritual development and encouraged self-discovery. Thoreau believed that developing a closer bond with the spirit and a better understanding of oneself required interaction with the natural world. In the end, he believed that nature was essential to spiritual and personal growth.

Beliefs about individualism,
Henry Thoreau explains his ideas that individuals should trust their own judgement. Also live authentically to themselves according you own values. As well as resist social pressure and unjust laws. He also emphasis on personal integrity and self reliance. All of these would have a long lasting impact in philosophy and American literature.

Beliefs about spirituality and religion...
For Religion Henry believed there is no conventional.Believed religion was highly personal.He emphasized the importance of personal intuition and inner experience in spiritual matter. Also advocated for simple and mindful way of living as a path of spiritual fulfillment. Used nature as a the teacher for spiritual well being and insight.
