Once upon a time, tale is a lie in its origin. That lie, that lie. A snake swallowed the elephant. Come and linger for a while. Once upon a time, when camels were crier and fleas were barbers, and I was rocking my mother's cradle...
Once upon a time, Keloğlan and his mother lived together in a tiny hut in a poor village of a big country. They made their living by selling wood.
A FAIRY TALE OF WORLD
Chapter 1 (Turkey)
One day, while Keloğlan was selling wood in the market with his donkey, the sultan's soldiers came to the middle of the market. They hit the drums with all their might and silenced the people. A crier appeared among them and started reading the sultan's decree...
“O people!
As you know, my beautiful daughter Sultan, the light of my eyes, has been suffering from sleeping sickness for a long time. He has been sleeping day and night for months. No doctor in the country could find a cure for my daughter's problem. My beautiful, moon-faced daughter is fading day by day. Whoever heals my daughter should wish whatever he wishes from me! From today onwards, my palace is open to anyone who can offer a remedy to cure my daughter.”
It was bursting in the seams in the garden of the palace. Everyone, old and young, men and women, smart and crazy, came to see the sultan's daughter. Keloğlan waited in the queue for two days and nights. On the morning of the third day, it was finally his turn. He was heartstruck as soon as he saw the Sultan's face. He was lost in the Sultan's face for a long time. He stared for so long that the people in the room shook Keloğlan's arms and brought him around, as if wakinghim up from a dream:
-Sir, sir come around.
- Tell me if you already a cure found
-Sultan’s daughter has been in an endless sleep for months
- Every single person conked out
-The Sultan will also get sick soon
-The country will land itself into soup.
Keloğlan finally came around and left the palace without saying anything to anyone. As he went to his mother, his heart was filled with sultan daughter’s love. He crossed the streams and drank from the cold waters. He drank but he was still suffering the pangs of love.
When he came home, he told his mother about the situation. There is no solution to this problem, son, his mother said. The sultan said, "The girl will die soon, let's mind our business." Keloğlan was smart. He said that God does not give trouble without a cure. There is a solution, but who will find it, who will cure the Sultan girl?
Days passed by. Keloğlan was off from eating or drinking. He was getting weaker day by day, and it seemed like his lovesickness would be the death of him. Finally, Keloğlan fell ill, and one night, while he was suffering a serious fever again, he had a dream.
In his dream, a fairy covered in fog came to Keloğlan. “The bald boy, the bald boy, the friend of the beauties. I know you have a problem, I want to tell you the cure. You will think about the rest, you will travel from one country to another. Now you tell me, want to know the cure?
Keloğlan said with surprise, “Tell me, my beautiful fairy, I will travel from place to place. As long as the Sultan girl wakes up, this Keloğlan will wander around every corner!”
The beautiful fairy started to explain. “This sleeping sickness is a very bad disease, Keloğlan. Finding the cure is not easy either. It is necessary to prepare a potion that will cure the Sultan's daughter. For this potion, you must find and bring the essence of five different herbs. It will be quite difficult to find these plants. As soon as you find the herbs, you will boil their essence and put it in a bottle. You need to mix them all together in tarhana soup and give it to the Sultana.
Now listen to me carefully. I will tell you the names of the plants and where they grow. Don't forget these: Bartın Astragalus from Turkey, hepatica transillvanica from Romania, agriada from Greece, soldanella calabrese from Italy and ukvdava plants from Georgia.
Keloğlan woke up covered in sweat. He immediately wrote the names of the plants on a piece of paper. He woke up his mother and told her about the dream he had seen. Keloğlan's mother did not want him to go, but she said it was better than falling into bed and dying of love, so she let him go.
He gave all the money he had saved by selling wood for years to his son. He gave a thousand admonitions and sent his son off, entrusting him to God. Keloğlan decided to go to Bartın first. He went a little way with his donkey, went a long way, went straight up and down the stream. He wandered the meadows, mowed tulips and hyacinths, drank cold water, and spent six months and one autumn. Then he turned and looked back and saw that he had traveled the length of a barley.
They say Bartın is a beautiful land. The sea is blue, the mountains are green, the people are brilliant... Keloğlan first went to the city's bazaar and visited the market. He asked the marketers about Bartın Astragalus. No one knew this milkweed in the market. No one knows whether to eat the food or drink the water, no one knows, Keloğlan has so much hope for this! He immediately left the market and while looking for a place to stay for himself and his donkey, he came across an old woman on the street. ”
He immediately asked him too. The woman was very surprised by this question. "How do you know this?" she said. Keloğlan explained his dream. The woman took pity on Keloğlan and said to him, “My bald son, do you know the place called Amasra? You have to go there, it grows there on steep cliffs. “Its color is pink.
Waking up in the morning to the sound of roosters, Keloğlan threw himself onto the steep rocks without wasting any time. And what to see, everywhere is full of astragalus. A small pot he took out of his bag. He boiled the herbs and put them in a small bottle.
Keloğlan set out to find the second herb without wasting any time. He found a ship going to Georgia from Amasra port and leaving in the evening. Boarding the ship with excitement, standing to the sea…
Keloglan reached the port of Georgia.
Even though the crowd of people in the port made him feel dizzy for a moment, he thought about the sultan’s daughter and gained morale. He immediately started looking for the herbalist he learned from a friend he met on the ship. The herbalist's shop was fifteen minutes away on foot from the port.
Finding the herbalist, Keloğlan asked him where the "ukvdava" plant grows. The shop owner was a curious man. He asked Keloglan why he was looking for that plant. Keloğlan told everything he had experienced to the shop owner. Keloglan's love for the sultan girl softened the shop owner's heart and he told Keloglan where he could find the "ukvdava" plant.
Keloğlan, who understood the directions well, hit the road. He swam across a deep river, leaving behind the high peaks and the hard-to-reach path. Finally he saw a wheat field where many people were harvesting.
Colorful and beautiful flowers spread among the wheat, and the field looked like a bridal carpet. Keloğlan got hopeful when he saw this field, and while he was thinking that maybe he could see the medicinal herb he wanted, he suddenly heard a voice.
An old and wise-looking man asked Keloglan: "Who is this young guest of God? What is your problem, young man?"
He said, "I will find a medicinal plant that grows in your country for the daughter of our Sultan”. The old wise man said:
- Our fields are covered with a thousand medicinal plants, but whatever you look for, you can only find that herb in the king's garden. But the bad news is that a three-headed dragon has taken over this garden.
He killed everyone and imprisoned the king's daughter in a castle. This castle can only be surrounded by Amiran, who lives in the Caucasus Mountains. You rest here tonight and tomorrow our servant Giorgi will guide you to Amiran. If you tell Amiran about your problem, he will definitely help you. Amiran always lends a helping hand to those in need or in trouble, and regards them as a friend and brother. Accept us as brothers and friends, stay in our village today as God's guests, and tomorrow you can continue on your way.”
Keloğlan was very happy. He was far away from where he was born and raised, but he always met good people. Giorgi showed Keloglan a room to stay in the village's guest house. Keloğlan, who was very tired on the roads, took an early rest. He had no idea what awaited him the next day.
As soon as Keloğlan and Giorgi started the difficult and dangerous road to Amiran, they met many people on the way, they passed through waterfalls leaning on each other, they crossed steep slopes without falling, they survived many other dangers and reached Amiran's tower.
When they arrived, Amiran had just returned from the war and was preparing a weapon to save their king's daughter. He welcomed Keloğlan with honor, and when he learned his situation, he said that his own king's daughter was locked in a tower by a three headed monster.
"I was planning to fight against him one of these days, but we'll start tomorrow." added Amiran. The next day, Amiran chose loyal friends and took Keloğlan and Giorgi with him. When they approached the palace, they saw the king's daughter looking from the tower. The girl was crying, but when she saw Amiran, she thought she would be saved and became hopeful.
The beautiful princess called out to Amiran:
The dragon is out hunting now, he has the key to the garden gates, he knows which herb is healing, for I have seen him use a herb when he was wounded in battle and recover quickly. That's why you should pay attention to which herb he uses, it will be beneficial for you too.
Be careful, even if you injure him, he will heal quickly by applying medicinal herbs to his wounds. When we injure him, we must immediately move away from him and hide. This is how the dragon destroyed my father's entire kingdom, so don't you have the same fate.
Amiran was waiting at the bottom of the tower. His friends hid in a cave under a big stone. The dragon smelled them and started breathing fire. Amiran immediately jumped on the dragon's back and applied a paste he had prepared before on his eyes. Suddenly he couldn't see with his other eyes either.
When the dragon could not see his way, Amiran easily hunted the dragon down and tied all its mouths. All of Amiran's friends and Keloglan attacked the dragon together. Finally, they managed to kill him by wounding him in the heart.
The beautiful princess was very happy, she went to the garden, collected medicinal herbs and gave them to Keloglan. The warriors spent that day together. Amiran offered the best food and drinks to the guests, they sang, danced and had fun.
They sent Keloglan off with loving words. At dawn, as soon as the sun rose, Amiran and his friends took him to the port. It was hard for them to part, but they promised each other that they would meet again in the spring.
Now Keloglan was going to the Kingdom of Romania to find "hepatica transillvanica",
a medicinal plant. The journey into the unknown became increasingly exciting
The first ray of sunlight barely broke through the darkness. Gently, gently, the sky opened, like a huge book, to make way for the Sun.
In the castle tower, the beautiful Bendis—Goddess of the hunt, the forest, and the moon, protector of women and healers—waited impatiently for the sunrise, willing the hot rays to light her face once more. The high-pitched screeches of the owls startled her, adding to her anxiety. For a moment her gaze tried to penetrate the thicket of the forest, then she rose to the sky and a smile flushed her cheeks.
- Good morning sunshine!
- May your heart be healthy, my child! But what shadows your tender face? What troubles you?
- Magnificent Sun, for several days the rustling of the forest has not stopped, the living things are hiding, and the waters of the springs are cloudy. The leaves whisper in terror about the awakening of the spirit from Mount Retezat - the God of Life and Death, Healing and Knowledge...
Chapter 3 (Romania)
- Saying this, Bendis looked carefully at the forest again, convinced that the moment of confrontation with Zamolxis was getting closer. His attention was drawn to the brave Keloğlan, who was walking confidently along
the path guarded by centuries-old oaks.
Having been away for some time from the sunny lands beyond the Great Sea, Keloğlan had decided to overcome every obstacle and find the magic plants from which to make the healing elixir to save the sultan's daughter. The fearless young man already had two of the five plants with which he could save the life of his princess.
Having been away for some time from the sunny lands beyond the Great Sea, Keloğlan had decided to overcome every obstacle and find the magic plants from which to make the healing elixir to save the sultan's daughter. The fearless young man already had two of the five plants with which he could save the life of his princess.
Bendis greeted the weary hiker with joy, and after feeding him well, they set off together into the heart of Mount Retezat - the only place where they could find the third magical plant - Hepatica transylvanica, or the Cross of the Strong, as it is known to the inhabitants of these lands.
As they advanced through the forest, young Keloğlan could feel the huge, cold eyes watching them from behind the trees. Bendis had sensed the strange presence as well, and at the first stop, she decided to tell her fellow traveler what danger they would soon face.
The storm erupted shortly before the dreaded Zamolxis appeared in their path. The trees groaned with every gust of wind that seemed to tear them from their roots, the sky furrowed with thousands of lightning bolts had made torrential rains and furious torrents battered everything in their path.
- Who are you who dares to disturb my peace? Don't you fear for your lives, you scoundrels?
- Raise Zamolxis, Bendis and Keloğlan spoke bravely, we just want to save the princess and we need some of the flowers that grow in the glades of your mountain. For that, let's climb to the top, where the flowers grow protected by you, away from evil people who do not know how to appreciate their value.
They both knew that it would not be easy to convince him, and they were waiting to find out what the spirit of Mount Retezat would ask in exchange for the priceless flowers.
- In the heart of the mountain lives the Great Bear, he guards the battle banner of the Dacians. If you have the courage to face it, you will learn the story of the flag. I am waiting for you tomorrow at
sunrise, don't be late and I promise you will leave the mountain with a bouquet of blue flowers, like the clear sky of summer nights. If not, this is where your bones will stay!
Bendis and Keloğlan fearlessly set out for the steep ridge on the north side of the mountain, where the Great Bear had last been seen. Bendis carefully clutched the two jars of honey taken from the castle to her chest, being sure that this way they would be able to persuade the tireless guard to tell them the story of the mythical flag.
They walked all night, and when they had already given up hope of finding him, the Great Bear appeared on their way. An ominous hissing could be heard from the cave dug into the rock…
Something told them that the mystery of the battle flag had already begun to dissipate. It didn't take long for Bendis to convince the giant sentinel to try the wonderful liquor in the jars.
Careful not to lose a single drop of the tasty honey, the Big Bear told them about the wolf, the animal that became the protector of the free Dacians.
- Draco was the battle standard of the Dacians, it had the shape of a wolf's head with an open mouth, which continued with a dragon's body. Made of leather, it swelled in the wind making a noise that imitated the howling of wolves, and the sound terrified enemies and had the effect of emboldening one's own fighters.
As a reward they received a bouquet of the healing plant, for which Keloğlan had traveled almost half the world. The old spirit also brought them two of his magical horses, with which Bendis and the brave Keloğlan flew like thought to the border.
The adventure in Romania was over and Keloğlan had to leave without delay to find the other healing plants.
As a reward, they received a bouquet of the medicinal plant for which Keloğlan had traveled half the world. The old spirit also brought them two of his magical horses.
Bendis and the brave Keloğlan flew to the border with them. Keloglan's Romanian adventure ended and without wasting any more time the young hero went to find the other medicinal plants with which to make the healing potion.
Keloğlan left Transylvania to reach Italy and find the fourth herb he needed to cure the girl.
The journey was long, tiring and uncomfortable, as he joined a caravan carrying spices and scents from the East and had to settle with the little space available.
He finally arrived in Venice, where he was surprised to see a city built on water, with bridges and channels.
Distracted by looking at the funny boats, he didn't realize that the bottle containing the precious healing herbs was falling into the sea.
He reached out to catch it, but he fell into the water and the strenght of the stream pushed him away. Luckily a boy on a gondola rowed fast to save him.
He was a boy with delicate features and a slim build. Keloğlan thanked his rescuer, but immediately got worried about the bottle with herbs.
- Thanks for saving me! But where is my bottle? Keloğlan asked desperately
- Here it is, it fell with you and I got it back for you.
Keloğlan checked the contents wasn’t damaged and luckily saw that everything was in its place.
Then he began to tell his adventure to the boy, who was attentive and interested. The young gondolier briefly introduced himself and his story.
- My name is Fantaghirò and I fight to defend my father’s kingdom from our enemy who declared war. I must reach the borders of the kingdom that are in southern Italy.
- I'm going there too: I have to reach Calabria to collect the soldanella, which is a healing plant that grows only and exclusively on Calabria mountains.
- I know this plant, said Fantaghirò: it is very difficult to collect it, because it is overseen by a terrible monster, the Roccella dragon.
- I can't afford to be afraid, because I absolutely have to get this plant to save my sultan's daughter.
- I admire your courage, I decided to help you: we will fight together to save your kingdom and princess.
So Fantaghirò and Keloğlan left, after having found a horse each. They rode for
days without any problem, among expanses of olive trees, sunflowers and vineyards. Until one morning, after spending the night camped on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, they found themselves with a nasty surprise: their horses were gone! They wandered around looking for their animals, but in vane.
Suddenly they saw a carriage proceeding towards them, a man with a friendly looking on board. He stopped and asked the two young men if they needed a lift, saying that he was going to Rome on business. Fantaghirò and Keloğlan accepted with joy, because they could have found new horses in Rome to continue their journey.
That benevolent man left them right in front of the Colosseum and both were amazed by this architectural work emanating history from every each single part. They felt valiant and fearless, like the gladiators of ancient Rome.
Before looking for horses, they decided to have a tour of the city. Later they met in front of the Trevi fountain. Here they threw a coin into the water expressing a desire, as tradition wants. And as if by magic the statue of Oceanus came to life and said to them: "Go to Ostia beach, nearby, you will find a boat to continue your journey."
After thanking him, they ran towards the beach. They left on the ship for southern Italy, and they got delighted seeing the volcano Vesuvius Standing out behind Naples.
They reached the shores of Calabria in a short while. Here, however, they had to be careful because they were within the borders of the enemy king Romuald. So they decided to wait for the dark to head out towards the mountains where the precious soldanella grew.
They climbed the Sila Mountains until they arrived in front of the cave where the fearsome dragon, guardian of the soldanella. Fantaghirò drew his sword and got ready to fight, while Keloğlan was caught unprepared and found himself tied up and transported into the darkness of the cave.
Keloğlan did not give up and, once his eyes got used to the darkness, he managed to find out the flower and pick it up: at that very moment the dragon magically disintegrated.
Keloğlan put the flower in the bottle and prepared to leave, but first he said goodbye to Fantaghirò who revealed him to be a girl, fighting to save her kingdom. The confession was heard by King Romuald, hidden behind a tree, who was struck by the words of the brave young woman. Romuald declared himself to Fantaghirò, who agreed to marry him and unify their kingdoms, thus bringing together Italy peacefully. Keloğlan said goodbye to his new friends and got on a boat and set towards Greece, ready to cross the Ionian Sea...
The boat Keloglan was on left him in the port of Thessaloniki. Keloğlan liked this cute coastal city very much. This time the journey didn't tire him that much. The first thing he did was to travel around the city and look for people who could help him. Keloglan was intrigued by two children skipping stones on the water on the beach. He went to them and met them. The children looked at Keloglan with suspicion at first, but his cute face and cheerful speech pleased the children.
After chatting with Krystallia and Alexandros for a while, Keloğlan told them what he had experienced. These two brothers were very benevolent children. They felt sorry for Keloglan's situation and decided to help him. They knew a famous doctor living in their city who knew all kinds of herbs. They agreed to take Keloglan to him.
The doctor told them that the healing plant was on the magical Island of Kefalonia and gave them instructions on how to get there. Thus, the three heroes started their journey towards Kefalonia Island. Since it was not possible to make such a journey without stopping, they started their long journey by taking breaks.
The road was long, but Keloğlan and the children walked the path in the forest without getting tired. Suddenly, a city with a magnificent lake in the middle emerged. Keloğlan was amazed by the island extending into the calm waters. The beautiful city of Ioannina welcomed them. They tried Yanya's famous sherbet desserts in a shop.
Kefalonia was not as close as thought. They entered a road, left the road and found themselves in a green river. The icy, noisy waters of the river were enough for the children to play. Their maps showed that it was on the Acheron River. Alexandros told Kekoğlan the story of the river where, according to mythology, the boatman carries the souls to the underworld, but this beautiful view was nothing like the dark landscape described by Alexandros.
At the end of the river was the picturesque town of Arta. The heroes stocked up on the necessary supplies and continued their journey. The road took them to a beautiful and majestic stone bridge. While Keloğlan was admiring the bridge, Krystallia told him the legend of the historical bridge.
They went a little, they went a long way, they went straight up and down the river, and then they reached Messolonghi. They were amazed by the beautiful view there. A lagoon and a green islet in the middle. Keloğlan and his two brothers watched the view with admiration. The beauty of this city was accompanied by its magnificent history, and the two children did not forget to tell this to Keloglan while showing him around the city.
The city was very beautiful, but they had to continue their journey to the island where they would find the healing plant. The children and Keloğlan found the ship that would take them to Kefalonia Island. The deep blue sea, white waves, blue sky and bright sun made the trip wonderful.
When they arrived in the magical Kefalonia, they immediately started looking for the plant. They asked everyone and a grandmother showed them the way. He told them that they could find the "Agriada" plant in the magical forest of Gradus and drew them a map.
They took the map with directions and set out to find the magical forest. They walked for hours and reached the Gradou region. There they encountered a wonderful sight. Trees growing on arid rocks, centuries-old olive trees, hidden streams flowing into the sea. Rock swallows emerging from sea caves and flying towards the endless blue sky, statue-like rocks and other fairytale elements of nature adorn the Grados region.
The astonished children and Keloğlan looked at the strange and magical sight that appeared before them. Little Alexandros shyly started to play with the fairies surrounding him. They walked with the fairies and began to dive into streams full of stardust and sparkles.
After going down the steep valley, the children and Keloğlan gathered as much of the rare plants as they needed. They climbed back to the hill where fairies and stone sounds were waiting for them to have fun. There everyone danced until they were tired, feasted, and played in the moonlight. When Keloğlan and the children woke up, the sound of stones had stopped. There was only the sound of birds and flowing water.
Keloğlan was relieved when he realized that he could leave the children who helped him and continue his journey to Istanbul. The children arrived at the port with Keloglan. While getting on the ship to go to his hometown, Keloğlan took one last look at his dear friends and set off full of gratitude...
Chapter 6 (İstanbul/Turkey)
Lost in the dream of being reunited with his beloved from the deck of a ship coming from Greece to Istanbul at sunrise, Keloğlan's eyes fell on a tower standing in the middle of the sea. While Keloğlan was looking at the tower with admiration, a white-bearded grandfather came to him. Grandfather said, “As far as I understand, you are traveling alone, like me. Come son, let's drink some foamy Turkish coffee and be friends. While sipping our coffee with a pleasant conversation, let's watch the Maiden's Tower with its fascinating beauty.
While drinking their coffee, the grandfather could not stand Keloğlan's thoughtfulness and succumbed to his curiosity and asked about the boy's problem. Keloğlan could no longer keep what he had been through inside. He started telling everything that happened to him, one by one. Grandfather listened to Keloğlan with great seriousness.
After a while, the bagel seller passing by with a tray of bagels on his head said, "I have fresh bagels." When they heard him shouting, they realized they were hungry. While Keloğlan was going to buy bagels after the bagel seller, a seagull landed on his grandfather's shoulder and he started talking to the grandfather, who understood the language of all kinds of living things. "Forgive me, but I overheard what was said. I know a wizard who can make that soup. But getting here is not easy. In order for the wizard to give you the recipe, you need to take the jewel in the Basilica Cistern to him. But there is a vicious wolf guarding this jewel in the Basilica Cistern. "The only way to calm this wolf is through St. John's wort, which isonly found in the Belgrad Forest." He said and walkedaway from his grandfather. Keloğlan came to the grandfather with two bagels in his hands. Grandfather: "Son, when you went to buy bagels, I thought I moved and found a cure for your problem."
He said and started to tell what he heard from the seagull to his companion who was watching him with curious eyes. Keloğlan happily said, “Let's go find that herb!” he said and they set off.
They arrived at Belgrade Forest around noon. Grandfather said, “Son, let's go this way and I'll go this way. We find it faster. " said. After a while, they both returned empty-handed to the point where they left. Keloğlan said sadly, “Oh, grandfather, what will we do now? "There's nothing wrong with either of us." said. Grandfather said, "Come, you can relax a little, let's go down to the market and buy water." said. They went to the market. In the bazaar, the grandfather's eyes were struck by the St. John's wort in front of him. He said to Keloglan, “Come son! We found it out of the blue. "Here's a bunch of St. John's wort." he said. Keloğlan was very happy about this and they set off towards the BasilicaCistern, taking the plant with them.
When they arrived at the Basilica Cistern, a vicious wolf greeted them at the door. Keloğlan put the herbs in his hand into the water bottle he took from his bundle, shook it, and after a while, after the herbs released their essence into the water, he sprayed this water on the wolf. The wolf became intoxicated and unconscious within a few minutes due to the calming effect of St. John's wort. They took this as an opportunity, silently slipped through the door of the cistern, took the jewel and quickly left.
They set out towards Emirgan Grove to find the wizard. They arrived at Emirgan Grove and after wandering around for a while, they saw a yellow mansion. While he was walking towards the mansion with fast steps, with the excitement of being able to reunite with the princess of Keloğlan as soon as possible, he bumped into an old man with a long robe and a white beard who passed by without noticing, causing the man to fall to the ground. When the man and the grandfather, who rushed to help the man, made eye contact, the man smiled with the pleasure of seeing an old friend. The grandfather was very surprised and picked up his old friend from where he had fallen and hugged him longingly.
This man was the wizard they were looking for. The wizard invited them to his mansion and listened to their experiences. They gave the jewel to the wizard. The wizard prepared a banquet table for them, and while they sat and ate their fill, he reminisced about the old days with his friend whom he had not seen for years. After the meal, the man prepared the soup requested for Keloğlan and the princess, put it in a casserole dish and advised them to take it before it cooled. They said goodbye and left the mansion.
The colorful tulips in the grove attracted Keloğlan's attention, and when the princess woke up, the thought of bringing her to see the tulip garden here crossed his mind. Now everything is ready to wake up the princess and reunite with her, all that remains is to go to the princess.princess and reunite with her, all that remains is to go to the princess. Without wasting any time, they set out towards Dolmabahçe Palace.
When they arrived at the palace, they told the guard at the door that they wanted to meet the king. The guard mocked them and did not want to let them in. Keloğlan told the guard why they were there and that the soup should be served to the princess immediately. The guard said, “Okay, I will let you in, but let me warn you before letting you in. "If the princess wakes up, ask our king for what you want, but if she doesn't, you will be exiled from the country." said. Keloğlan said, “I risked so much for my princess. Being exiled cannot deter me from this path.”. The guard informed the king of the situation and let them in.
The king, who was exhausted for his daughter who had been sleeping for a long time, got hopeful and welcomed Keloğlan and the grandfather and took them to his daughter's room. Hearing the news, the palace doctors and the princess's servants also crowded into the princess's room and started watching with excitement. Keloğlan took a piece of the steaming tarhana soup, put it in a bowl, added the potions he had obtained with great difficulty from traveling all over the world, mixed them and began to give the princess a drink. Everyone held their breath and waited with big eyes for the princess to wake up, but the princess did not wake up.
Waiting for a while, when the King saw that the princess did not wake up, he turned to the guards and ordered them to exile Keloğlan and lock the grandfather in the dungeon.
Grandfather said, "Wait, the princess opened her eyes!" he said, shouting with joy. The people in the room looked at the princess and Keloğlan and started screaming with joy. The king could not hide his surprise as the princess opened her eyes and hugged his daughter in tears of happiness. After making up for his longing with his daughter, the king said, "Wish whatever you wish from me, Keloğlan." said. Keloğlan said, "With your permission, I want to marry your daughter in accordance with the traditions." The king said, "You healed my only daughter, and I will reward you and marry my daughter." said.
Thereupon, Keloğlan asked permission from the king to go for a walk with the princess. Before leaving, Keloğlan went to the grandfather and asked him to play his kopuz while giving the girl a tulip. Keloğlan took the princess to Emirgan Grove. While they were captivated by the beauty of the grove while having a nice conversation, Keloğlan saw very beautiful tulips and wanted to present them to the princess. At that moment, the grandfather started playing his kopuz and Keloğlan handed the bunch of tulips to the princess, accompanied by the kopuz, and made a romantic marriage proposal. After the princess accepted the offer, wedding preparations began.
His friends had kharcho soup from Georgia, mamoliga from Romania, pizza from Italy and buyurdi from Greece; His mother had a big tray of pistachio baklava in her hand.
They had a legendary wedding that lasted for fourty days and forty nights. On the day the wedding ended, the grandfather gathered everyone around and told them a story.
“What a beautiful tale this is, grandfather. It's like a world fairy tale, as if each culture added a piece of itself. Like in the fairy tale, will the good always win, eradicate the evil, and peace reign in the world forever? I haven't been able to ask you your name since we met, grandfather. Can you give us your name?" said Keloğlan. Grandfather replied: "KORKUT..."
