Introduction
The Korean War was a conflict that occurred during the Postwar Era. This story will highlight the overall war on communism and the role Canada played in this war. By exploring historical thinking concepts we can gain a deeper understanding of the impact this war on the world.

Cause Of war
The cause of the Korean War is that after WWII Korea was liberated from Japanese occupation. Korea was then divided from the 38th parallel making the Soviet Union occupy the North and America occupy the South. This caused a communist regime to form in the north and an anti-communist regime to form in the south.
Political tension was exemplified even more when both sides established 2 separate governments, the north being the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the south being the Republic of Korea (ROK).

On June 25, 1950, North Korean officials crossed the 38 parallel launching a surprise attack on South Korean forces. They quickly steamrolled through Seoul in just 3 days. Then American troops arrived first trying to repel the invasion. Soon after the UN Security Council with troops from 16 countries including Canada helped recapture Seoul by making landings near Pusan and Seoul. This caused the DPRK to get pushed back to the borders of China.
Summary of War

Seeing this China launched around 500,000 troops to repel them back where they were stuck in stalemate almost exactly where they started. Then on July 27, 1953, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed signifying a ceasefire that is still in effect today.
