watching you learn and grow from all we have experienced together has been the greatest joy of my life.
love, daddy

Bryson, a spunky little boy with eyes as blue as the summer sky, bounced with excitement. Today was the day he'd finally learn how to wakeboard! He wriggled into his bright orange life jacket, the straps feeling snug and safe.
Bryson and his dad arrived at the lake. The sun sparkled like scattered diamonds on the water, and a gentle breeze danced through the tall weeds. Bryson watched in awe as his dad prepped the boat, its sleek hull gleaming in the sunlight.
Soon, they were gliding across the glassy surface of the lake. The wind whipped through Bryson's hair, carrying the sweet scent of sun-warmed grass. His dad steered the boat, leaving a perfect V-shaped wake in its path.
Bryson gripped the wakeboard, He imagined himself skimming across the water, feeling the spray cool his skin.
"Alright, champ," boomed his dad's voice over the roar of the engine, "let's give it a try!"
Bryson held his breath and dipped his toes into the cool water. With a deep breath, he pushed himself off the platform at the back of the boat and into the water
When Bryson was situated he looked over the board and yelled "READY" and his dad hit the gas but instead of coming up Bryson went under the water.
Bryson resurfaced, sputtering and laughing. Water dripped from his nose and chin, but a wide grin spread across his face. He hadn't stayed up for long, but that didn't matter. He had tried!
His dad drove over, his own face creased with a smile. "Not bad, Bryson! Getting up on a wakeboard takes practice. Let's try again!"
Bryson nodded eagerly. He grabbed the rope, his determination stronger than ever. This time, as the boat picked up speed, he focused on keeping his knees bent and his weight centered.
