It was a beautiful day outside and Cow, 

Sheep, and Dog were out together. 

"It's very nice out today," said Dog.

"It sure is," said Sheep.

"Hey guys, I heard the Farmer saying he 

needed to talk to all of the animals today," 

said Cow. 

"The Farmer,"   asked Dog. 

"All of us," asked Sheep "what is it about?"

"I don't know," replied Cow "but I know 

the Farmer loves us and will take care of 

us."

"What do you think it is about cow," asked Sheep "you 

have been on the farm the longest."

"I don't know," replied cow "I know the Farmer has been 

talking about how crowded the farm has gotten. There is 

hardly enough room for us to sleep at night."

"Oh no!" cried dog, "that means someone is going to 

have to leave."

"You don't know for sure," replied Sheep "let's be 

hopeful."

"Sheep is right," said Cow "I've got to go get the other 

animals."

"Come on Cat and Pig. The Farmer has to talk 

to us today," said Cow.

"About what?" asked Pig.

"I don't know," answered Cow "but I know it is 

important."

"Hey Goose, Goat, and Horse!" yelled Cow. 

"We have to go meet the Farmer. He has 

something important to talk to us about 

today."

"Okay...." the animals replied worriedly. 

Back at the farm, the Farmer was waiting for 

all the animals. 

"I cannot wait for all the animals to arrive! 

They are going to be very excited when they 

hear my big news!" said the farmer excitedly. 

"Okay everyone, it is time to head back to the farm to 

meet the Farmer," Cow announced.

"I don't know, Cow," replied Horse "I think we are all 

very nervous about what the Farmer needs to tell us."

"The Farmer will take care of us. He loves all of us," 

said Cow. 

"He does love us," added Sheep.

"Maybe he will send us to a nice farm with a nice 

farmer," said Goat.

"Or what if the new farmer makes us work all day," 

replied Goose with a worried tone. 

                          "The Farmer loves us" answered Cow       

                          again, "he will take care of us."

                             "I hope you're right," dog added                        

                                                                   sadly. 

The animals arrived at the farm gloomily. They were 

thinking about what Cow had said about there not 

being enough room on the farm. They all loved the 

farm and each other very much and couldn't imagine 

living anywhere else with anyone else. They all waited 

with long faced for the Farmer to arrive. 

"Hey everyone!" the Farmer said in a cheerful tone, 

but none of the animals said anything. 

"What's with all the long faces," the Farmer asked but 

again the animals remained silent. Puzzled the Farmer 

continued "I asked you to all meet today because I 

have something very exciting to share."

"Exciting," wailed Dog "how can 

some of us having to go to a new 

farm be exciting?"

All of the sudden all of the animals 

started talking. The Farmer tried to 

get their attention but could not. He 

had to climb on the fence and whistle 

as loud as he could."

"What is going on?" asked the Farmer. 

"We know there isn't enough room on the farm 

anymore," answered Pig sadly, "some of us will 

have to leave."

The farmer looked at the animals surprised. 

"Where did you hear that?"

"I heard you telling Mrs. Farmer," Cow said 

gloomily. Now Cow was beginning to think all 

of the animals were right. Someone was going 

to have to move to a new farm.

"You are right," answered the Farmer "we are 

out of room!"

All of the animals hung their heads. 

Before the animals could begin to cry the 

Farmer announced, "No one is leaving."

"What?" all the animals asked at once. 

"No one is moving" replied the Farmer again. 

"I asked you all to come here today because I 

wanted to tell you we're getting a new barn!"

All of the animals looked at each other and 

began to smile. 

"I told you he loves us," said cow.
