Max, come on to the forest!

One sunny afternoon, Jake, an 8 year-old boy, decided to explore the forest behind his house. His dog, Max, wagged his tail excitedly, ready for the adventure. 

Jake heard stories about a pirate treasure hidden in the woods, and today, he wanted to find it. 

Wow, this must be a clue, Max!

Woof- woof, woof- woof.

With a map he had draw himself, Jake started to walk. As they went deeper into the forest, they found a stream. Jake and Max carefully crossed over a fallen log. 

Suddenly, Max started barking and led Jake to a stone shaped like a star. "This must be a clue!" Jake said. 

Woof-woof

Max, what is this?

Following the star-shaped stones, Jake and Max arrived at a sunny clearing. In the center, under a big oak tree, they spotted a wooden chest half- buried in the ground. 

Jake's heart raced as he knelt down and dug around it, finally pulling it free with Max wagging his tail in excitement.

He opened the creaky lid, expecting gold, but instead found a neatly folder letter resting on soft cloth. 

Hello Jake, 

If you have found this letter, listen well. The real treasure isn't the gold or shine jewels. It's the adventures and moments you share with friends and family. That's what truly matters, more than any treasure chest. 

The pirate. 

As he read the elegant handwriting, he learned that the letter was from an old pirate.  It said the true treasure was not gold or jewels, but the adventures shared with friends and family. 

Jake smiled, realizing how true the pirate's words were. He thought about all the fun he had with Max and how every moment spent together was special.
