Sarah and Ta'Miya weren't just best friends. They were paper airplane experts.

Every day at school, they fold and fly their paper airplanes. Their classmates love to watch them soar through the air!

One afternoon, Sarah sat at home as her mother told her some big news. She was being stationed in Louisiana.

That night, during their sleepover, they made a fort and played with stuffed animals like normal, but something felt off.

Lieutenant Cooper came into the bedroom because she heard sniffling.

"What's wrong girls?"

"We're worried that because I'm moving we won't be able to stay best friends. We can't fly our planes together anymore!" Sarah cried.

"You know, when I was your age, my best friend moved away too. We sent letters back and forth, but you can send paper airplanes!

Lieutenant Cooper reached into the closet and pulled out two shoeboxes. "These can be your special letter boxes, that way, if you ever get homesick, you have a piece of your best friend with you!"

"We can decorate them with stickers!" Ta'Miya shouted. "And lots of glitter!" Sarah said. The girls were excited to make their airplanes.
