What she did: She was a Polish poet, essayist, laureate Nobel Prizes in Literature which she won in 1996. She was also a Lady of the Order of the White Eagle.

Why she is important: Szymborska published about 350 poems. Her works have been translated into over 40 languages.

Fun fact: Wisława Szymborska loved  eating fast food. She was a big fan of chicken wings from KFC.

Sabiha GÖKÇEN

What she did: Sabiha Gökçen was the world's first female  fighter pilot. 

Why she is important:Gökçen was adopted by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk,The Great Turkish Leader when she was 12. She became a combat pilot at the age of 23. Her last flight was when she was 83 years old. One of Istanbul's airports is named after her.

What she did: She was a painter, but women couldn't paint in that era, but she did, and when her teacher asked her to marry him she refused. But he insisted so she got him arrested.

Why she is important: She is remembered as one of the best painters ever.
