                WHAT IS MEANING OF POVERTY ?

        Poverty is a condition where individuals or           

communities lack financial resources and  

essentials for a minimum standard of living

CONCEPT OF POVERTY

1) ABSOLUTE POVERTY

2) REALTIVE POVERTY

ABSOLUTE POVERTY

1) This poverty is measured in terms of daily  calorie intake of a person and when the person is unable to meets this requirement is considered as  absolute poverty. 

2) This type of poverty  is found in developing countries and Underdeveloped countries .

3) This concept of poverty can be eradicated.

RELATIVE POVERTY

1) This is an imaginary concept measured in terms of income ,wealth and status of an individual.

2) It is a comparison between high income group and low income group .

3)Relative poverty  is found in all countries .

4) Relative poverty cannot be eradicated completely 

WHAT IS POVERTY LINE ?

It is an imaginary line which divides the economy into two parts 

a) People below the poverty line

b) People above the poverty line 

RURAL POVERTY 

THIS POVERTY IS FOUND IN RURAL AREAS 

1) When a person consumes less than 2400 cal pe day called as rural poor 

2) This kind of poverty is founded among agricultural labourers Etc.

3)Other reasons to have this poverty  : Farmers take huge loans and due to unpredictable weather and loss makes farmer difficult to repay the debt .

URBAN POVERTY 

1) This poverty is found in Urban areas.

2)When a person consumes less than 2100 cal per day is called as urban poverty .

3)These people due less wages have to live in slums and also have problems like lack of drainage, toilets and they are exposed to pollution and crimes
