Ally had a big pit in her stomach and she worried about everything! And if she didn't already have enough to worry about, a new worry was on the horizon.
Ally's family was moving from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, because Ally's mom was taking a new job. Now Ally would be the new kid in town and the new student at a big scary new school.
She worried she wouldn't fit in. She worried she wouldn't make friends because everyone already had friends. She worried what her teacher would be like. Would she be mean, would she give a lot of homework? She was anxious about recess. Who would she play with? Maybe I should just take a book outside and read by myself, she thought. She worried about lunch. Would the food be gross? Who would I sit with? Will it be loud (Ally didn't like loud)?
Worry, worry, worry was all Ally the Anxious Avocado seemed to do. It was beginning to make her feel sick to her stomach and give her headaches too. Ally's mom called to talk to her new School Counselor, Ms. Parsnip. She wanted her to be aware of Ally's anxious feelings about being the new kid at school.

The first day at her new school was here! Ally told her mom she didn't want to go, but mom said, "I'm sorry honey, but you need to go to school to learn and make new friends. I want you to be brave and strong, and you'll see it's going to be much better than you thought."
Ally's School Counselor Ms. Parsnip met them at the front of the school. She gave the two a brief tour and introduced them to Ally's new teacher Ms. Spinach. It was time for mom to leave for home, and Ally looked at her with tears in her eyes. But, she remembered her mom's words. I need you to be brave and strong and so she decided that's exactly what she would be!
