These challenges that I faced there have been changes like new laws. I would have encountered my African American rights not being used to the fullest. The NAACP would help me properly obtain my rights and not be discriminated against by others. I influenced better labor rights and better working conditions. They had us working in unsanitary conditions, which made us sick. Giving African Americans rights transformed the urban society and gave us good pay to start families. The connection I can draw is African Americans' rights and citizenship, in which black people were exercising greater freedom in the political process as well.  We fought for our civil rights during the progressive era, facing segregation and violence towards us. Some leaders also fought for racial injustice and raised public awareness about racial discrimination.

An African American immigrant shares their journey to America and the challenges faced in finding work. I have always admired influential figures like Jane Addams and Eugene V. Debs for their significant contributions to society. Jane Addams is renowned for her work in social reform, particularly for founding Hull House, which provided essential services to immigrants and the poor. 

Eugene V. Debs was a passionate champion of labor rights, advocating for fair wages and better working conditions. He fought against the exploitation of workers who were often paid low wages and forced to work in hazardous environments. His commitment to labor rights emphasized the importance of dignity and fairness in the workplace. 

W.E.B. Du Bois played a crucial role in advancing higher education and civil rights for African Americans. As a co-founder of the NAACP in 1909, he worked tirelessly to challenge racial discrimination. His advocacy for education was instrumental in empowering African Americans to achieve success and fight for their rights.
