The oldest ears of popcorn ever found were 

discovered in the Bat Cave in 1948 and 

1950.

The Aztecs in Mexico wore popcorn necklaces and 

ceremonial headdresses in 1519

Americans eat around 17 billion quarts of 

popcorn every year. 

Hypothesis

If the moisture in the kernel 

expands with the right 

temperature, the kernel will 

pop.

*1/4 cup of popcorn kernels 

*microwave

*paper bag

*scale  

*Measure 1/4 cup of popcorn 

kernels

*Put the kernel in a brown bag 

and fold the ends.

*Microwave the popcorn for 

1:35 seconds.
