Many animals live in groups. These groups help them survive in different ways.
Zebras live in herds. When they stay together, it is harder for predators to catch them. Their black-and-white stripes blend together, making it difficult for a lion to pick just one zebra to chase.
Meerkats live in groups called mobs. They take turns watching for danger while others search for food. If a predator is near, the lookout gives a warning call.
Geese fly in a V-formation when they migrate. This pattern helps them save energy. The bird in front breaks the wind, making flying easier for the ones behind.
Ants work together in colonies. Each ant has a job, such as gathering food, taking care of young ants, or protecting the colony from danger.
Fish swim in large groups called schools. This makes it hard for predators to attack them. When many fish swim together, they look like one big creature.
Wolves live and hunt in packs. Working together, they can catch larger animals like deer and moose, which would be too difficult to catch alone.
Elephants live in family groups led by an older female called a matriarch. They help protect each other, find water, and take care of baby elephants.
Bees live in hives. Each bee has an important job, such as collecting nectar, building the hive, or protecting the queen bee.
