Jason Hawthorn is now thirty-six years old,
and married to Jamie. They live in Seattle and
have 2 kids, Elanor and Joseph. Elanor is
always asking questions, and Joseph is shy.
One day Elanor asks Jason if he would ever
change what he did on his adventure or after.
Jason replies saying,
"If I would change anything, it would be
how fast I traveled during the Klondike Rush.
Here sit down, this is going to take a while."

"Sometimes I worked as much, if not
more than those horses, and didn't
enjoy the terrain or have any fun. I
wanted to get there to see my brothers,
(your uncles) so bad that I would go to
the end of the world to give them a hug."
Jason said.
"Why would you do that? I would sell
Joseph for $1 right now!" Elanor says.

"Elanor," Jason says "you shouldn't
and will NEVER sell your brother, even
if he is as shy as a closed book."
Elanor solemnly shakes her head.
"Now, where was I? Oh yeah. Abe
and Ethan were the only family I had
left. If I never went on the trip, I
probably wouldn't have met Jamie or
my old friend Charlie. I was inexorable.
Once I got my mind set, nothing could

would you do if your best friends took
some of your money, and left. I would be
furious, and I was. After trying to get to
Dawson fast and failing, I decided to take
my time with everything."
"But daddy," Joseph says "Can we go
back and see what you did?"
"Why surely Joey! I would be glad to
take all of us! Elly, tell your mother that we
are going back to Dawson City!"

what Jason and Jamie remember. The old
Hawthorn Brothers Sawmill is as good as
ever! The kids run to it. When everyone
gets in, the kids meet Abe and Ethan for
the very first time! They exchange hugs.
Once the kids meet their uncles, Abe
and Ethan take the day off to show them
around. It is just a wonderful day.

floor! Then they went to the once-in-use gold
fields. There was only two people mining
there. Elanor and Jamie go over to the river
and run their fingers through the water. It is
cold and reminds Jamie of the Klondike.
Jamie turns around with tears in her eyes.
She says, "Jason, this brings back so many
memories! The last time I was hear was
when I was the, Princess of Dawson." They
all tear up remembering the good old days.

built during the Klondike Rush! Joey
and Elanor look around admiring the
room. The next morning, they head
down to Five Fingers on a canoe, and
find the island Jason stayed on.
"This is really where you and Charlie
stayed? In the cold with no building?"
Joey says.
"No son, there once was a cabin here. It

belonged to Mr. George Washington
Carmack." Jason explains
"Who was he?" Elanor asks.
"Why, he was the most famous person
anyone up here ever knew at the time."
Jamie pipes in.
"Why did you stay up here, dad?"
Joey asks.
"Well, I was in a quandary. Do I go
back with no future, or plan my future?"
Jason replies.

"Well my father thought I needed
civilizing. So we sold our farm and went
on this adventure. I became the Princess
of Dawson City, and he was known as
the best poet of the time!" Jamie says
with pride.
Next they explore the old trails and
just settle down. It is a great vacation.
