Many years ago there was a man named Mar Ukba. There were twothings Mar Ukba did every day. Firstly, he spent all day in Yeshiva
studying Torah, and secondly he made sure to give tsedaka.Mar Ukba's wife

Mar Ukba didn't perform the mitsvah of tsedaka by simply putting a few coins
in a box.

He went to the same poor man every night and dropped off 4 zuzim at his doorstep.

Why do you think the poor man wantsto discover his benefactor? Is it curiosity?

One night Mar Ukba was studyingvery late, and he lost
track of time.
I wonder why my husband is not home yet.I think I'm going
to go get him.

Back in Yeshiva...
I'm sorry darling, I was studying such an interesting sugiya,I forgot what time it is!
Come with me, I must go and give my daily tsedaka before
we go home.
