The Lions Awakening
A prophecy was once told that a boy will
one say become a greater leader than
Alexander the Great. Sundiata, the son of
King Maghan Kon Fatta of Mali and
Sogolon, was the most likely candidate, but
was looked past because he was still
unable to walk at the age of 7.

Sundiata's family is banished from the castle to a life
in poverty. Wanting to go back to their lives,
Sundiata's mother, Sogolon, goes to Sassouma, the
King's 1st wife, to beg for help.

Sassouma rejects Sogolon's plea for help and
makes fun of Sundiata's inability to walk and
how her son will be a better ruler.

Sologon goes back to hut and cries, for she
is embarrased of her son. Full of anger, she
slaps Sundiata.

Sundiata promises to learn to walk and
bring his mother a whole baobob tree.

Sundiata asks a blacksmith for an iron bar to
help him reach his goal of standing up and
walking.

Sundiata goes up to the bar, that is now in the
ground, as a crowd forms around him.

As Sogolon looks on in amazement, Sundiata
stands ups and walks. Sassouma, in a jealous
rage, storms off to the castle.

As promised, Sundiata brings his
mother a whole baobob tree and sets it
right in their front yard. Now all
citizens of the kingdom must go to
their home to get baobob leaves.

Because of her jealousy, Sassouma forces
Sundiata and his family into exile. They find
refure in the kingdom of Mema.

As time goes on and Sundiata grows
older, an evil sorcerer, Soumaoro, of a
nearby kingdom gains control of other
countries, including Sundiata's home
country of Mali.

Sundiata is angered by the thought of his
home country under another power. He gains
power and respect from other countries to
improve his skills, in order to take back his
country.

Sundiata and Samaoro get in an
argument, minutes after meeting. They
soon declare war on each other.

Sundiata and his new army of fellow beings
who have been betrayed by Soumaoro,
discover a way to defeat him by taking away
his mystical powers.

They create a bow and arrow that is
powerful enough to rid Soumaoro of
his powers.

In a battle, Sundiata shoots Soumaoro with
the enchanted arrow, taking away all his
powers. A bird of misfortune, however,
foreshadowing his future.
