Sue is the only child. Her parents buy her a lot 

of beautiful dolls and toys. She can have 

everything she wants.

However, the more her parents give her, the 

more demanding she becomes. Whenever her 

parents say “no” to her, she feels very upset. 

She throws things away and cries loudly. 

Her parents are very sad. They decide to teach 

her a lesson. They take Sue to an orphanage. 

Sue and her parents stay in the orphanage for a 

day. 

She has meals with other children there. 

Although they don’t have very good food, they 

are very happy.   Nobody has beautiful dolls or 

expensive toys but they play happily with each 

other and have lots of fun. 

When Sue comes back home, she tells her 

parents that she doesn’t need all the toys and 

dolls. Next week she is going to take them to 

the orphanage and give them to other children. 

Her parents 

are very 

happy. They 

buy a lot of 

story books 

and toys. On 

Sunday, they 

take Sue and 

the gifts to 

the 

orphanage. 

Sue gives 

them to 

other 

children and 

they play 

happily 

together.
