The congress is the legislative Branch. Its
main function is to make laws. It also oversees the
executive and Judcial powers. The congress is
bicameral. It is composed of two houses. one
house is the senate. Each of the fifty states is
allocated one or more representatives bases in its
population as calculated by the decemial census.
Census count seat equals roughly 600,00
constituent.

The senate and the house of representative are
both required to approve legislative power, but
revenue bills. Senators sometimes use this rule to
fillibuster a bill. That is, continue debating a bill
endlessly so that it cannot be used on. The house
has the sole power to impeach federal; executive
and judicial officer. I impeachments, a two-third
vote being required for conviction. The U.S
congress has a writ of habeas corpus( literally to "
produce the body") is a court order to a person
holding someone in custody. The bill of attainder
is also an act of a legislature declaring a person
guilty and punishing them.

Casework helps congress to figure a person
background when on trails in court cases. The
congress has a ex facto law; which changes the
legal of actions that were committed. The
resulting district apportionment is known as
gerrymander. The U.S congress has the
seniority rule where every member have their
choice of committee. Both major political parties
have designated floor leaders major in both
houses of congress. The majority party is called
the senate and the floor leader for minority is
called the house minority leader. Standing
